Anybody know where Chuck is now or what he is doing??? I still feel he was one of the best 3 or 4 players in Vol history.

I think I heard he might be selling real estate? I'm not sure though. He is in my top 5 favorite Vols of all time. He is one of the best I have ever seen. It's to bad he is hardly known by many people across the country.

I know Cobb was into cocaine....did Chuck ever get into that too? I know he hurt his knee and thats what ended things for him.

I agree with you that he was one of the best ever. He could turn the corner like few ever will. I remember when he was a freshman....he turned the corner and took it the distance and John Ward was like "Oh Man!!!"

I don't think Webb was ever involved in drugs. He just blew out his knee and decided to go pro.

The run where he turned on the jets in the Cotton Bowl was amazing. He broke some guys ankle, and I thought the other player had the angle on him, but he turned it on for the score.

You are right in that its sad that Chuck and others like him might not be known. As far as pure talent goes...God given ability....the only Vol back that is close is Jamal. Garner was great too but Chuck was on a different level. He just had "it".

I'm not educated too much on Chuck Webb. I'm too young to remember him well, but as far as running backs go Jamal Lewis was a beast.

Still one of the only guys I saw run that defensive players were about afriad to try to go low on him and if they went high he would make them look like a crash test dummy. I think he was voted the hardest player to tackle by NFL players when he was in his heyday with the Ravens.

Jamal Lewis= Total Beast, and just to think FSU wanted him as a FB.

He couldn't hold Webbs jockstrap.

I beg to differ.....Jamal was CLOSE....but when it came to the prototypical running back, Chuck was it. Vision, power, speed, instinct.....he just had it.

There are a lot of 4.4 guys out there. A lot of powerful guys. But Chuck had the innate instinct to know when to wait for the block....or hit the hole now. When to cut it back or to take it around the edge. You can not teach that..............

I guess you never saw much of Webb did you?

Jamal Lewis could easily be a NFL and college fooball Hall of Famer. I don't even know what Webb went on to do, but I know he wasn't rushing for nearly 1,400 yards as a freshman, running a 4.4 forty at 240lbs, and breaking the NFL's single season rushing record.

I can tell from that post that you have never seen Webb play.

You obviously don't consider accomplishments when evaluating a player.

I've seen them both. Webb blew his knee out and was never the same afterword. I'm not trying to downplay Jamal, because he was great, but I would put Webb one notch behind Hershel and Bo.

He was close to those rushing #'s as a frosh and did ok in the Cotton Bowl. Without the injury this probably wouldn't be a discussion.

You're not trying to downplay Jamal, but he "can't hold Webb's jockstrap"?

Yeah, Webb isn't even in the top 24 in all-time rushers at UT and you put in in the same class as Hershel Walker and Bo Jackson.

To be fair, Jamal blew his knee out and came back just the same.
