Carolina Panthers

Although Norman's in-game conduct was not beyond reproach, there's no denying Beckham was out of line. Personally, I think he should be suspended for the rest of the regular season.

Norman had his voice heard after the game; while the tweet is "cute," he needs to stop now and move on.

Yes just stop.

Panthers are now only the fourth team in history to be 14-0, with the last being the '09 Colts. Their regular season win streak of 18 games is also now tied for the third longest in NFL history.

The Panthers may not win the Super Bowl, and I'd say the odds are against them in that respect, but I'm not sure that we've ever quite witnessed a phenomenon like this in the history of American professional sports, where it's almost like a team that was down in the dumps (what were we? like 4-7-1, or something?) just flipped a switch. They even came fairly close to beating Seattle in the playoffs last year, until we completely lost it in the fourth.

It will never really mean anything unless we win the Super Bowl this year, but I don't know that we've ever seen anything like this. It may come to a startling end next weekend, but what is unfolding before us is without precedent in the sport.

2008 Dolphins went 11-5 compared to their 1-15 campaign in '07

OBJ showed he has the emotional maturity of Kylo Ren. When things go wrong, just trash the joint.

Josh Norman is football's Dennis Rodman. Who knows if he's really good, but he sure will get in your head and make you suck.

what a game. i was physically worn out afterwards.

1. Norman has played this way all season, and his entire career. the fact that OBJ allowed it to get under his skin says more about OBJ than it does about Norman. OBJ lost his composure. Norman, more times than not was retaliating. agree, in the twitterverse, this all needs to end. we won the game, 'nuff said, move on to ATL and Julio. but for those saying Norman should be punished too, go watch the whole season, Norman is exactly what he is. it's not his fault OBJ can't keep himself in check, and be a professional.

2. the defense. one week they're elite against Dallas and Atlanta, the next they can't do diddly against NO or NYG. we absolutely have to find a cure to the jeckyll/hyde nature of the defense. we should never have to worry if up 35-7 late in the 3rd. that was bad. biggest frustration was not being able to get to Eli. we have to have a pass rush. especially against the likes of a Carson Palmer, Russell Wilson or Tom Brady.

3. we did the things we would have to do, to allow NY a chance to win. untimely turnovers, special teams' gaffes, 3 & outs in the 2nd half, and no pass rush. we're walking a thin line at this point in the season...we've not had a game, where all the mistakes cost us the W. thus far, we've been able to overcome multi turnover, multi mistake games.

4. we also did the things you have to, to win games. and again this team proved itself with another 4th qtr game winning drive. it's really cool to know that if your'e down < 7 points with 1:30 or more left, to not worry cause we have a guy that can get it done. this year, that's been bradyesque. there's no doubt who the MVP is. but at this point, i almost don't want him to win it. keep this team pissed off. the goal is in Santa Clara, CA.

5. what do do about the next two weeks.....obviously we need to beat ATL. no question, so business as usual.
but, assuming we do pull that out, and we're 15-0 headed in to TB....i think you play whoever is healthy, and you play them 1st half, and let if fall where it may.

in the end....14-0.

This is the same Norman that got choked out by Cam Newton. Dude is a clown too.

Norman gets under people's skin, yes. That's his game and you can love or hate it. Norman has not, nor ever has, done things on the field that could end a guy's career.

Ear-holing someone with the crown of your helmet on purpose, is about as low an act that you can do on the field. I thought Norman showed incredible restraint because most players would have retaliated worse than he did in that situation. Beckham Jr. showed his true character yesterday, and the entire Giants organization should be embarrassed with how they handled him.

yeah, let's not re write this....i don't have an issue with the physical play.

but the ear hole shot....that was as dirty a play as you will see, because it was done with intent. he had time to think about, act, and implement.

being in a pile and putting on a little twist, tug, poke etc....is one thing. i think most anyone that's ever played the game will tell you that's part of it.

running around in a circle, taking off on dead sprint, and launching your head in to the side of another guy's head.....is not part of the game. it is not just "physical play".

dude is punk. he can't handle the match up mentally. i'd say he probably won physically. he got by norman in the 1st qtr, and dropped it. he got the tying TD.

but in between, Norman dominated this guy's head.

You're acting like I'm endorsing OBJ. I'm not. I'm just saying Norman wasn't some innocent bystander, minding his own business on a park bench. He slammed OBJ to the ground in the first quarter and they fought with each other after that. OBJ will and should be suspended for a game but Norman is a jackass too. Let's not act like he was giving kids Christmas gifts and obj hit him out of no where.

So does Norman essentially go the Courtland Finnegan route? I'm not familiar with the guy.

Beckham's hit is one of the worst I can recall, but it's high time Norman shut his mouth up about it. He was making his rounds this morning too, giving yet another incoherent, mumbling invective (hope it wasn't because of concussion) against Beckham on "Mike and Mike."

Speaking of that Newton fight. How in the world a more tech savvy individual than myself has not made a photo from that encounter into a favorite Internet meme, I have no clue. One could do so much with it. Newton has the most jovial, gleeful, and content look on his face as I think I've ever seen on a person as they're choking another human being down to the ground. Norman looked like a newborn that had just been exposed to some omnipotent godhead.

Do we know which day we are playing in the playoffs? It looks like from what I've seen it is the 16th or the 17th, just wanted to see if I'm missing anything to definitely tell what day?

Not sure, but Carolina hasn't clinched the 1 seed so I'd imagine nothing is definite yet. Last year, the 1 seeds played on Saturday, and while I'm not sure that's what the NFL does every year, it would make sense to give those teams an extra day of rest before the conference title games.

Thanks! The NFL and panthers must know that I have plans on the 16th, so they need to play on the 17th. :)

My question for OBJ is, why did an alleged homophobic slur get you so riled up? If someone calls me a hippo, who cares? I'm not one, nor do I hate hippos.

yeah, the narrative on this whole situation has gone stupid.

he's scared of a practice player holding a bat during pre game, so he spends the next 4 hours losing his mind over it; over a guy that hasn't and wont' see the field, much less with baseball bat?

they called him names that question sexuality and were homophobic in nature...not condoning that obviously...but do you think this is the first time this has ever happened on football field?

the NFL has issued a statement saying that all props are to be left in the locker room. seriously? that's the result of this? this is a microcosm of what's EXACTLY what's wrong with this country. we've made a rule to pacify the wrong doer, that punishes the victim. this is stupid. anyone who believes OBJ was in danger from the practice player with the bat needs their head examined.

i'm not saying that Norman didn't have a role. he obviously did. i don't know what he said, but i do know this....he's not the first DB to go at a WR with the intent of getting under his skin to take him off his game. he is the first to do it so well that it caused the WR to set new precedents on unsportsmanlike penalties and disciplinary action.

i saw a blurb yesterday that said something to the affect of "is carolina getting a pass on how OBJ was treated before/during the game?"

are you kidding me? OBJ loses his mind, goes off for 3 hours, intends to take Normans head off, and now there's actually a discussion taking place on how it's CArolina's fault?

make it stop. move on to ATL.

Norman's getting 2 fines worth about 25K btw.

And since it'll likely get posted when he doesn't, Beckham's most likely not winning today's appeal.

don't have an issue with the fines. i think given what the two of them did, the disciplinary action taken probably fits.

i'd be shocked and very disappointed if he won the appeal.

With the Concussion movie coming out this week, there's no way he wins that appeal.

Personally, I thought it ought to have been for the rest of the regular season, but I realize that would put the NFL in the very uncomfortable spot of having to behave like a respectable sports league rather than a money-grabbing business empire.

One thing that has gotten overlooked in the whole OBJ/Norman debacle was the fact that OBJ also maliciously smacked Finnegan in the head. No one has ever provided me with a sufficient argument as to how attempting to slap someone in the head with all your might is any different from attempting to punch them, but arbitrary rules will be arbitrary, I suppose.
