Bye bye Butch - Purdue bound (message board rumor)

With the guys we're losing to graduation/NFL draft, this staff's track record at talent development, the washouts we've already had from the past two recruiting classes, and a pretty lackluster 2017 class that took a big hit last night, I feel pretty confident that Butch is on his last leg. I don't really see the advantage in letting him have the opportunity to do what Dooley did in dragging us down with a halfhearted effort in a lame duck season. Everyone seems to think that the UTC guy will be the AD so why not just hire him and let him get to work?

If true, Christmas is ruined. Thanks Butch...the orphans get no Christmas now. Hope you're happy.

I agree 100%.

Fans on here act like we have never been thru this before. The Dooley years should really, really be fresh in everyone's memory. I totally agree w/ you. If he leaves on his own then oh well it wasn't meant to be and he was never a VFL and needs to go find his safe space at Purdue or w/e he ends up. But we should not get rid of him at all unless we have a GOOD hire in place....

No way it can get better next year, it took him four years to go 4-4 in the SEC, I don't believe he can do better with the team that is losing so many "good players". VFL34 do you think if not for Hart putting such a large buyout in place, things would be different?

If he is here past next year, the next guy will inherit something closer to the roster he did and not the one he currently has.

He has hit his ceiling on the field and in recruiting. The later is slipping toward mediocre.

I stand corrected. How could I forget the bungled coaching transition between Stewart, Holgerson, and Oliver Luck. I just don't see how you could call Holgerson amateur when the guy at least has won a BCS bowl, in a route, as head coach.

Bungled is right. Oliver Luck managed to make it through that debacle unscathed, but it was a gigantic mess.

There are a lot of reasons to look at Holgerson sideways, but I gotta tip my cap that he has done a nice job up there.

I agree that we need someone GOOD who will accept the job. Right now, I just don't believe that anyone is actually making an effort at due diligence on the fans' behalf. They're stringing us along until we get to a point where they can tell us it was just too late to do anything. Frustrating.

That message is typical booster talk. Partial truth and partial exaggeration running with a rumor seen elsewhere to make story sound better. Expectations and criticism is getting to him. AD timeline being sped up. Purdue stuff isn't true though.

Heard from a reliable source, CBJ has informed some recruits and players and members of the university he is moving on to Purdue. Wait till all the coach speak rips this fanbase to shreds. We are finished .

He is not going anywhere. They have checked around and there is not any interest out there in hiring him. He will be here

We're 8-4 same as last year. That isn't backwards unless you know of a different meaning of the word backwards lol. A win is a win. Since it doesn't matter to you how we lost to A&M then it doesn't matter how we won against App state. Hope you get what I'm saying.

Technically we did take a step backwards as far as the SEC goes. We were 5-3 last year in conf and went backwards at 4-4 this year. If not for that miraculous hail Mary we would have been 3-5 and lost to 2 first yr SEC East Head coach's. Fortunately Butch only has one of those loses on this years resume. Then F'D that up by getting monkey stopped by Vandy.Atleast last yrs loses were to Ala,UF,OU and Ark. None of those were a bad loss, 2 of the 4 made the playoffs and another one won the East..You can tell I'm sitting here bored but in last yrs 4 losses those teams finished a combined 43-12 78%,2 made the 4 team playoff and one won the NC..This year those 4 losses so far are 32-16 67% and take away Alabama's 12-0 and the other 3 are 20-16 55% combined and only 1 of those teams will make the playoff's. The only positive step we took was finally beating UF.It's damn near impossible to do what Butch did but we managed to pull it off and that was beating both UF and UGA and still found a way to not win the East.Would love to see ESPN's probability percentage chances of not winning the East after starting 2-0 and beating UF and UGA. Would bet that percentage would be in the low single digits like 5%-9%. Pretty impressive I would bet not many if any other SEC Coach's could pull that off. Bet Butch could come up with some kind of cheesy slogan he could brainwash his players with from it though..lmao

Great....so, reading between the lines:

1. He has checked around about leaving UT...

2. No one out there wants him

so, we are stuck with him.

Accurate summary?

I don't know what y'all are smokin, but you need to flush that sh!t and head to detox ASAP!!!

GBO!!

Correct if Wrong, but couldn't Invisa-Butch end this speculation pretty quickly if he wanted to? Just saying.

.

Kind of like when he "refused" to address the rumors about slapping a player last season? It's kind of pointless to address something that doesn't exist no matter how badly Volnation wants it to.
