This is what I've been thinking. Nobody wants to take on our problem.
Not Larry, but IMO, there was never a possibility Butch would be fired this year.....not after posting 8 or maybe 9 wins. The only way he's not on the sidelines next year is if he decides to leave for another job. Any job open would be at best a lateral move and more likely a step down. Add to that the tremendous amount of money he'd be leaving on the table, and it's a bit silly to imagine him taking another job at this point in time.
Our fans and evidently a good portion of our boosters are such small minded thinkers. You want to bring in a big name coach and really fix this thing? Give him a say over who the AD is.
the question is easily answered. no one over there with the capability to make that decision. Not going to let Hart and/or Cheek make it. Nothing can happen until new folks arrive
Well, if you would like to hire a coach like Derek Dooley your right. No coach with any sense is going to take a job at a school where he has no clue who the person will be that he will be reporting to.
I this all the time. You can't turn your head back unless you can keep the WR on your hip or stay in contact with your hands. Otherwise, you look back, the WR breaks off the route and your toast.
We need better DBs, period.
In part. I doubt everyone involved (which is not the lame ducks you listed) is sitting around without some kind of a plan considering they knew Armstrong was shopping Jones. Im sure they had an plan in place if somebody would take him.
Knowing he was trying to leave is grounds enough to start getting your stuff together a little quicker. As I stated above somebody was gonna have to start a search if he left.
Unfortunately folks won't read or get this. You absolutely do not move to a job where who your boss will be is unknown to you.
This also is probably a contributing factor to CBJ checking out the waters. I suspect coaches of other sports may do the same thing as all this unwinds especially if the new AD is someone totally out of left field. It happens in businesses all the time.
Dana Holgerson was promoted to HC when Bill Stewart unexpectedly died, and WVU has had a change in President and AD since he was hired. He's a Mike Leach diciple and while I don't think he is the next coming of Urban Meyer or Nick Saban, I surely wouldn't trade Holgerson for Butch at this point. He at least knows X's and O's on offense and doesn't rely on cliches to pull the wool over people's eyes.
