Bristol already behind schedule (updates added)

They are using field turf according to the athletic department Chris Fuller they do have to raise the infield by 3 & a half feet

I think the 3.5 feet lift is in the exact center of the field. Tapers off as you go out toward the track.

Like this, seen from the side:

So they are filling in current bowl to allow for a crown on the field. But, I am not seeing where any water is going to drain. One would assume current outlet is at the bottom of the bowl.

I guess there must be drains along the "sides" of the bowl that will handle it?

Anyone got the blueprints?

guys, how do we feel about this gravel surface? Have they checked the size of the gravel pieces? Are we sure they're up to snuff? Are we getting special gravel cleats from Nike?

Most likely there would be drains all around.
Add in water drains through gravel and the materials being used.

Thats gonna be a nice time lapse video. Such a big scale undertaking.(twss) Watching history in the making Vol fans!

Imagine: A sweet time lapse video along with an epic tailgate/camping party. A big time pregame show and festivities. Tensions mount as fans from both sides go crazy and millions tune in for the largest crowd ever to witness a football game. As it builds and builds until....moments after opening kickoff VT gets knocked the **** out, takes its ball and goes home whimpering.

Yep, worth every penny IMO.

(1) Awesome.

(2) Great end zone view. View of the game isn't going to be bad, not bad at all!

(3) I'm gonna sit here and watch this live feed for the next 10 days. Will take a 4-hour break to watch our lads pummel App State, then back to watching the feed. Gonna talk my wife into bringing me dinner at the chair so I miss nothing. Might snooze, but no sleeping.

(4) Totally awesome. Thanks, Va917!

Even better.

I would think, since BMS is NOT becoming a permanent football venue, that they would not need a permanent drainage system for that. Perhaps they might need it more for, and have some sort of drainage in place for the track infield? If they need it, they may use some sort of temporary pumps.

I am sure Bruton has engineers who figured out what they needed a long time ago. So, I doubt all attending need to bring a plastic bucket just in case.

No, they'll just take advantage of the existing drainage system (center of the infield).

Only thing they have to do is make sure the "lens" of fill material is water permeable so that any rain can make its way down through the gravel and turf cover to the original drain below. And that the permeability matches the maximum potential precipitation. That's actually very easy, in engineering terms.

So no worries on drainage.
