Also, just realized how long it's been since I've used 'speed' and Tennessee football in the same breath with no sarcasm.

one does not simply create a natural, playable football surface in a matter of days.

It has happened a number of times at the AT&T Stadium (Cowboys home) when Euro soccer teams play. They refuse to play on artificial surfaces, so they put down real grass. The grass holds up well.

It's kind of funny we have people that need to be explicitly told that they aren't trying to grow a field in less than three weeks.

The owner of the contracting company, Chad Baker who is on the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission with me said that he could finish the work in a couple days. There will be no delays.

Can you get me one of the checkerboards from the turf? I'm sure they have to haul it out somewhere.

Read somewhere that converting the race course into a football stadium has an 11-day CPM. There are precisely 20 days from right now to game night. Seems to me there's plenty of float for weather delays and other unexpected events.

I think we're gonna be fine.

I think we have alot of people that want this to fail, so they are gonna be negative until its over, and then they will still say it was a bad thing even after it was a great thing.

Never said they were trying to grow a field, I said I was concerned that a field that has never had a major football game on it would be ready in a matter of days. I would venture to guess it has never even held a practice on it. You never know how turf will hold up that has never been played on. I also stated that I hoped it was going to be played on turf not grass. I was concerned about players getting hurt. I could care less what the surface is as long as it is ready for play.

Due to the rain delay, BMS is 24 hours behind schedule converting the infield to a football field for Sept 10. It's a very intense schedule as it is and now 24 hours behind. Hopefully weather dries up and they won't lose any more time.

Be a shame if the game had to be -played in Neylland

The people putting the field in, install fields regularly. They know what they are doing.

Some are acting like this whole process is being led by two guys who like to race cars who one drunken night said let's have a football game at the track.

The set-up will be ready.

The event is going to be a spectacle unlike anything before it.

This going to be a major cluster imho, one does not simply create a natural, playable football surface in a matter of days. I realize much of the grass is already there but I am going to go out on a limb here and say it has never had a major football game played on it by grown men. I hope I am wrong but I hope for the players sakes it doesn't lead to any major injuries more than anything.

If you had bothered to read the steps and schedule for preparing the field, you would not have posted. Oh well another example of someone posting just to post

At one point in time, 2 girls 1 cup was "unlike anything before".....

but that didn't make it great.

taking the fence down, doesn't have anything to do with making the field. they can be done at the same time.

I know that is why I started the post by saying I don't know about the field but I do know they are behind schedule on taking down the fence I thought that was what we were talking about being behind schedule

All things considered it is NOT behind schedule. When the schools signed the contract the race was scheduled for the 27th. Then Bruton went to NASCAR and had race moved to the 20th. If he figured he could do it in a week then 2 weeks is just a walk in the park. If you lived in this area you would know how things get done when Bruton wants them done. Hellfire he tore down a mountain to destroy Thunder Valley--he turned the track into a dirt track and back in less than a week. I can't recall all he has done since buying the track but he gets it done!!!

you think they can't take down a fence in 3 weeks? thats something you can do rain or shine. only time you need to stop is lightning. in 3 weeks I think I could do that by myself with no help.
