I’d guess if he does take the ND job nothing will be announced till after the playoffs if they make it.BOLD PREDICTION ALERT:
Fickell bolts on Cincy and heads to ND and coaches ND in CFP because
Disheartened Cincy (hears Fick is leaving for ND) loses to Houston in AAC Championship Game allowing ND to slide into 4th place in CFP.

Sounds like a bad move.
Easier path to the playoffs at ND than LSU.
He did have the ND wins vacated TWO years, 2012 and 2013, for staff cheating or other improprieties. By the way, he also had a 4-8 season at ND after he had been there a few years, while Orgeron never had a losing season at LSU. Orgeron's 5 loss season in 2020 got him on the hot seat; CBK had at least 3 5-loss seasons at ND, not counting the 4-8 one, or the 2 with all the forfeits.and if he gets caught cheating and fired, he gets 90% of his remaining contract. Wonder if he will cheat??? LOL
LSU Contract details for Kelly. Not media speculation, actually released by LSU:
LSU shared in their official release that Kelly's deal is for 10-years and worth $95 million, before incentives kick in. With his $500k annual retention bonuses, Kelly's deal is actually worth $100 million...and assuming he makes a bowl game every year that takes the base value to $105 million*.
Incentives for the contract include:
The most interesting part of the contract may be the buyout section.
- $75k for playing in the SEC title game
- $150k for winning SEC championship
- $500k for becoming bowl eligible*
- $100k for making a New Years Six Bowl
- $200k for making the CFP Semifinal
- $300k for making the College Football Finals
- $500k for winning the college
- $50k for SEC Coach of the Year
- $75k for National Coach of the Year honors
LSU, who has fired their last two head coaches after they'd led them to national titles, would owe Kelly 100% of his remaining salary if they were to fire him after he brought a national title back to Baton Rouge. If they were to fire him for cause, they would owe him 90% of his remaining salary.
If Kelly were to terminate his employment while Scott Woodward is still in place as the athletic director, he would owe:
- $4 million in the first year of the deal
- $3 million in year two
- $2 million in years three through the end of the contract
Lane Muffin to ND possibly

A good coach will pay for himself. Saban has established that model. The head coach is what can make or break a football program.College football is getting so out of control because of money. I don't see how it can continue to sustain itself. Supposedly Riley's contract at sc is $110 mill (don't know the length), $6 mill home, use of a private jet including for family, and his homes in OK paid off.
Maybe private institutions can keep this madness going but I don't know about public ones. Fans and supporters can only be bleed so much for they say enough especially when the product becomes mediocre or poor. Plenty of other things to do with our time and resources.
