AP-NORC Poll: Support soars for stricter gun control laws

"...More than 8 in 10 Americans favor a federal law preventing mentally ill people from purchasing guns, along with a federal law expanding background check requirements to include gun shows and private sales.

Nearly 8 in 10 favor allowing courts to prevent people from owning guns if considered a danger to themselves or others, even if they have not been convicted of a crime. And 7 in 10 favor a nationwide ban on devices known as “bump stocks” that allow semi-automatic guns to function like automatic guns.

Nearly 6 in 10 favor a nationwide ban on AR-15-style rifles.

“They should take them off the market. Too much power right there,” 25-year-old Sedrick Clark, of St. Louis Missouri, said of AR-15s."

What does AR-15 style mean? Is that the mythical "Assault weapon"? Or are you just wanting to get anything that looks scary off the "Streets"..? :eek:lol:

The reported publics knee jerk reaction to what amounts to an insignificant loss of life in the grand scheme of things is laughable.

Peoples kids have a better chance of dying in an accident than a school shooting.

More kids commit suicide than die in school shootings.

More people die from heart disease than school shootings..

Again, ignore the mental health aspect of it all and take the easiest path possible, ban muh guns!! Its no wonder left wingers lead miserable lives. You people literally cannot make smart or tough decisions. You do the easiest thing possible then cry like infants with soiled diapers when life flips you the bird.

So, if your child were murdered by a nutball with an AR15, you're good with that, since hey, there were other more probable causes of death that would potentially kill him/her in the future anyway?

I wouldn't be ok with my kid getting killed you dumbass. The matter with which it is done is insignificant because they are dead. The person/persons responsible would hopefully face justice.

Yes, insane people exist. I'm not terribly insane though, sorry.

Understand that, yes, the type of weapon IS important when in the hands of an insane killer who wants to commit mass murder. Not a targeted killing or revenge killing, but mass, random killing. They choose assault style rifles because they can inflict the most amount of damage in the shortest period of time, barring bombs.

One might think they would keep up with the news or something and claim a victory over such acts.
