Not saying we cant hire a sucessful coach...but history is not on our side.
I'm sorry...I'm in the "hope Bruce stays" camp.I guess I'm not supposed to know history.
I wrote President DiPietro and Chancellor Cheek an e-mail saying if Pearl is fired I will no longer purchase season tickets for UT Basketball. I know they probably won't miss my $420 but it's all I can do to voice my opinion.
Small crowds await.
This is exactly the reason this whole thing has just become idiotic. There will always been others to replace you, always has been and always will be. Why not support the team and the sport, versus being loyal to a coach. Neyland still fills up, and Fulmer isn't coach anymore.
Looking at history is fine. However, you are ignoring our most recent history of success and getting a successful hire in Pearl. If Pearl did not have serious character issues, he would, without question, still be our coach. Why can we not hire another person who can be just as successful or even more so than Pearl?

Once again I'm not saying we cant have sucess...history just isnt on our dise.
Probably because we didn't have the contracts for TV that we have now. Even if Pearl wasn't our coach for the past 6 seasons, they would have taken care of that issue before going on TV.
Did you know that if it wasn't for Buzz Peterson being hired in '01, there is a good possibility that we could have batted close to 1.000 in going to the dance since 1998?? Every single SEC program has had their ups and downs, look at KY's recent issues.
Of course it is absurd but the history of UT basketball is written in the absurd.I agree completely. I'm still amazed at the crowd of folks who think TN basketball is dead unless Pearl is the coach. We have the facilities and money to bring in a highly successful and even exceed what Pearl has done. Pearl should get full credit for his accomplishments, but to pretend that no one else can be successful here is absurd.
