Having admitted to all of the unethical conduct that allowed the contract to be voided might be a small problem for Bruce in the "lawsuit."

Exactly what I was thinking. Can you imagine what the deposition of Bruce Pearl would be like in light of his past and what he's already admitted? If he ever wants to work again, I can't imagine that he'd sue.

I don't think we are going to have a problem:

If pearl wants to coach again somewhere it is in his best interest to just make a clean break-

I am sure some very bright people have been looking over CBP's previous contract and current situation so that we may avoid any trouble after his firing-

Pearl is likely to be paid a severance anyway and will likely be required to sign a paper stating he would not persue a lawsuit if he accepts-

I can't imagine he'd ever work again. Right now, UT is prepared to give him money that he's not even entitled to as a token of appreciation and most definitely would have kept him if at all possible. Suing them wouldn't be looked on favorably by potential employers, in my opinion.

Breaking news, Vol fans...head coaches bend the rules; break them; lie; cheat; and fart in the elevator and blame it on an intern. They all do, to one extent or another. There are some who play by the rules...some who play by the rules most of the time...some who play by the rules when they're being watched...and some who think the rule book makes good toilet paper.

But the bottom line is this: If you get caught, take your medicine. Man up, stand tall, and take what you earned.

Bruce Pearl got caught. Plain and simple. He risked the reputation, and NCAA standing, of the very institution he claims to love...all for the sake of a couple of recruits who, truth be told, could care less about the proud history and tradition of The University of Tennessee. Plain and simple.

I've made my mistakes...plenty of them. I've also been man enough to stand up and take what I had coming.

Time to find out if Bruce Pearl is a man. Failing that, Mike Hamilton...which I don't hold much faith in...and failing that, get ready for the NCAA to step in and make examples out of Bruce Pearl...and UT.

I'll always be a UT fan. I will never again be a fan, or supporter, of Bruce Pearl, or Mike Hamilton. They won't miss what little they used to get from me...but they'll not get another dime until both of those lying scoundrels are gone.

Go Vols.

C'mon folks - Pearl and staff have known of their fate for several weeks barring a miracle finish to the season. Pearl violated the ethics related clauses in his old contract, which terminated the contract "for cause" and theoretically his employment by UT. The "memorandum of understanding" was agreed to by both parties after UTAD determined they would go forward with him for this past season. That gives some general terms for comp, expectations, reporting, etc. and both parties agreement to make best efforts to enter into a new contract. If you read between the lines, UTAD wanted some strong ethics and future allegations/sanctions language in the new contract to the detriment of Pearl. Pearl balked at first. Then the bump stuff happened and UTAD learned of it first from the AA. That was the final nail in the potential for a new contract until after the AA ruled. At this point Hamilton lost the majority of trustees and Haslam. No miracle finish happened.

So now we wait on an announcement.

I'd rather the arena be empty, than be full of bandwagon university of pearl people.

I'd prefer that they weld the doors closed to that.

A simple math question at the door would suffice. Best possible scenario. Or, hell, ask a couple state capitals.

I like it. How about requiring that they answer one pre-2005 history question, too?

Isn't this the same argument they tried to use with Dooley this year?? Look, when you are playing someone relevant, the place will fill up, plain and simple. I was at the Florida game this year at Neyland, and it was full to the brim. Same thing will happen with TBA.

I am optimistic and the coach that can be hired and the success level that can be kept or even elevated with a new coach if necessary. Basketball in the SEC and TBA is different today. Money and national exposure is flowing into SEC Athletic Departments due to record setting contracts. TBA has been molded into a better arena. UT has a much better package to sell to the next Bruce Pearl of UT than the previous.

To say that the drapes need to be hung in TBA is essentially ignoring the last 6 years of UT basketball like it never happened.

I remember the days where you could to to TBA for a game and carry on a convo with your buddy....and he was on the other side of the arena.

I hope games dont get too awful bad but I dont see 20k+ in there unless its a big big game.

I agree completely. I'm still amazed at the crowd of folks who think TN basketball is dead unless Pearl is the coach. We have the facilities and money to bring in a highly successful and even exceed what Pearl has done. Pearl should get full credit for his accomplishments, but to pretend that no one else can be successful here is absurd.

It would be much better than being an anal retentive elitist.

Not saying we cant hire a sucessful coach...but history is not on our side.

I'm sorry...I'm in the "hope Bruce stays" camp.I guess I'm not supposed to know history.

I wrote President DiPietro and Chancellor Cheek an e-mail saying if Pearl is fired I will no longer purchase season tickets for UT Basketball. I know they probably won't miss my $420 but it's all I can do to voice my opinion.

This is exactly the reason this whole thing has just become idiotic. There will always been others to replace you, always has been and always will be. Why not support the team and the sport, versus being loyal to a coach. Neyland still fills up, and Fulmer isn't coach anymore.
