Basilio saying Fulmer/Chaney want a new QB

That's not really the sort of involved I'm talking about. I rather doubt Fulmer is getting involved in player decisions.
I know that’s not what you meant but it shows he’s not afraid to “poke around” if you know what I mean. If he’s willing to do that it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if he told Pruitt to get another qb in there. Don’t know if I believe it or not tbh.

But what you can do...and should probably give serious consideration to when your #1 QB is 8-15...is pull all three in to your office and have a heart-to-heart convo with them. Something to the effect of "I don't know what it's going to take to score more points, but we are going to find it starting right now." "Jarrett gets the start, and the first three possessions. Impress me, and you stay in. Don't, and we go to Shrout/Maurer for the next three possessions. Same goes for you. If we get to QB #3, you're playing to stay in the game, or else we go back to JG and start over."

"If we end up with Jujuan Jennings at QB, then so be it. But we are going to find a QB who can lead this team effectively, and we are going to find him on Saturday. Florida and the rest of the SEC lie ahead. I don't have time to screw around anymore; it's time to find a leader for this offense."

"The job is Jarrett's to keep, or yours to take. Playtime is over. From this point forward, I want a meat-eater at QB. You go figure out who it's going to be."

And send them out.

Go Vols.
But he won't

There are many here who don't...especially in the 2A, Protect and Serve, and Politics threads. I have this ugly tendency to say what I think, back what I believe in, and defend what I hold sacred.

I'm kinda like GrandVol Lite.

Go Vols.
That's too bad. I find it refreshing. Every one gets offended these days.

But he won't

If Pruitt and the staff are going to turn this team around, they have to do it this Saturday. If not, they are going to get stomped by UF, and at that point the wheels will start to come off. Might be too late at this point, but if UT does not solve its' "QB confidence problem", then this could be a very long, very trying season for UT Football, and the fan base.

I hope I'm wrong, but after the first two games...

Go Vols.

Ifs and buts

It's going to be a loooooooooooong season. He already said as much about the QB position

Just listened to his show.
He said that his anonymous source X in the UTAD is saying:
Fulmer is extremely upset that Pruitt didn’t get us a good transfer QB for this season.
Chaney thinks our two backups have better arms and more football IQ than JG. He wants to try one but CJP vetoed.

I know many here don’t like Basilio or care what he says.
I’m just passing along what he said.

Didn't I hear Pruitt say in the last press con that he would like to get the other QB's some game time experience?

Pretty much. Pruitts a coward if he allows a player to get in the way of success. I damn sure wouldn't. He's being paid 4mil to run the program, so do what ya gotta do to get it done.

Hubs just called, I asked him, he thought for a minute and said Umm, maybe keshawn or lawerence? Does that sound familiar.
Yup he's a cornerback, already committed to us back in June. That's good, you just got me excited for a min that it might be one of the 5* still on our list.

Nope.

It's called boundaries. There should be a division of labor. If Fulmer has any suggestions whatsoever to Pruitt, he has crossed an important line. Doing so guarantees more difficulty in hiring coaches in the future. It is Fulmer's place the run the athletic department in general and he should have absolutely no say whatsoever in any personnel decisions.
Right, because it would be ludicrous for a coach who won a national championship and multiple SEC championships to help a coach who hasn't won squat as a HC to stop screwing up. That would really be nonsense.

My husbands at a ball game with my son. When he gets home I'll get the name again. I've gotten to where I don't keep up with recruits anymore...they commit and de-commit too much.

Ikr?!? Maybe the system would make more sense and work a little better if the NCAA would drop the term "committed" and instead just refer to it as "changed their relationship status." Is "going together" still a thing?

"Big news be in recruiting tonight. Harrison Bailey swiped right on Tennessee."

I really don’t know much about Basilio except what I see online but something just doesn’t seem very legitimate about him. The times I have read or heard him he seems to be a real dramatist and over the top kinda of guy. Maybe I’m wrong idk. That kind of stuff just does not appeal to me.

For starters, with a name like Basilio, he's not a native Tennessean or likely even a Southerner.

No problem with that.

He's better than Hyams or that Fox Knoxville crew. That's not saying much, but he is.

The only local media guy who has an idea what is going on and can analyze objectively is Swain.

I’ve lived in the Nashville area for 10 years now but will be moving back to Knoxville later this Fall. I decided to start listening to the Sports Animal just to get used to Knoxville radio.

😳😳😳

It’s awful. It sounds like some podunk hick town station. John and Jimmy are the worst too. I guess that’s the difference between a pro town and college town. 🤷🏽‍♂️

On the subject of STARTING a QB other than JG, I’ll posit this thought. Once that’s done, you can’t walk it back and THEN say “now it’s your baby! We were just trying something.” Even more it being a lesser regarded opponent. I’m for giving him a short leash if there’s more of the same and kicking some tires but I’d never fault a HC being hesitant to essentially pull up stakes at that most important position. Once you do, the temptation to play musical chairs with the field general becomes doubly enabled. And that dynamic heavily contributed to Fulmer’s only two losing seasons. You can’t switch starters and credibly go back to the original with “you’re our guy!” JMO.

Then maybe JG should simply fall on a helmet during practice or have suffered an unidentified injury during the last game and being held out for his safety ... solves the credibility/deniability issue. The temptation to play musical chairs is a reality ... see the offensive line.
