Bad hire

Worst thing I saw all night was Pruitt kicking the whiteboard. The great coaches always preach poise and composure at catastrophic times like we saw. Pruitt kicks a whiteboard. This spoke volumes to recruits. I still like Pruitt, but this was a bad look.

Yep, the man lost his composure.

People are worried about being paper champions, and that's why we are where we are.

There is a bit of merit to high rated recruiting classes, but more merit to installing a development system that works and getting the most from those players.

We aren't there yet, and we aren't going to be there until that development system is fully installed and implemented.

We aren't 4 games into the season and people are ready to fold up the tent and head home. That mentality is why are football team is so bad, because the Sapp incident last night proves that there are people around this organization that don't have the fire or testicular fortitude to get us back to where we need to be. They need to GTFO and let the adults who can handle high pressure situations do what needs to be done.

So revision of your statement about our talent, then?

Agree with most of your post. Have serious doubts about CJP though.

Fans are a big part of the problem.

They think its an overnight fix, but that's not even close to reality. Then whine when things get hard.

We have been fighting this for over a decade, yet are no better off than after the 2008 season.

I could only imagine how many people would have run Majors out of town in this day and age, especially considering how we competed during the first part of his tenure at UT.
Fans are a big part of the problem. The ones continuing to pour money into this program no matter how awful the product so the ad doesn’t have to do anything about it are the problem. Georgia fires a proven winner ( one that UT absolutely would have never fired) and they end up getting them a coach that already has them competing for national titles. Florida ( the team that just came into Neyland with a first year hc there and coming off a 4-7 season but somehow managed to sotemize us) fires a coach mid season last year that won the sec east 2 out of 2!! Again would UT ever consider doing this? Of course not!!! The UT fanbase that wants to give every coach 4 damn years just to show a little improvement are the problem with this football program. If those morons would have listened to the ones of us that knew Dooley and butch were crap they would have been gone a hell of a lot sooner than they were and we might not be so far down the rabbit hole. Instead the patience preaching coach worshippers got what they wanted and here we are with this disaster. So pardon me if I’m done listening to you morons.

The premise of this thread is ignorant.. This could be said about half the threads in the football forum right now.

Seriously Freak, you should start imposing penalties for crap like this...

Your offense is struggling. You punt, play good D, and try to change field position.

Check the guy the stadium is named after.

Saban is 10x better coach than Neyland and he punted the first year against us his first year at Bama. It was brilliant if it worked just like the going for it on 4th down vs WVU.

They sure did. They also have mostly Florida athletes to rebuild with, and we don't.

They also won the East how many times under McElwain?
Yep and they still fired the guy. I can’t imagine what you coach worshippers would have done if we did that here!! Your eyeballs would have prolly blown out of your heads.

Nick Saban kicked an onside kick vs the Vols in year 1. It was brilliant because it worked. Pruitt would have also been brilliant if it worked.
In my opinion, the players didnt do what they needed to do with 3 orange jerseys around the ball. One should have taken the FL guy out of the play and pushed him to the point to where he couldn't make a play for the ball. That would've left 2 players able to get us the ball. I like the call, though.

So now the excuse is because they have more athletes from Florida on their team? Butch is that you? I gotta hand it to you, most of these excuses get played out, that’s a new one for me.

Perhaps you have not watched this offense. At no time is the advantage with this offense. Perhaps you missed the safety, sack for fumble, etc.

He was overwhelmed. Has never been in the situation of owning it all.

Of course. Calling a 4th down play in what most considered a bottom feeder SEC game for a team with no expectations is certainly more stressful than being responsible for the entire defense of the premier program in college football playing for the SEC and national championships. Lol

We're not going to fire our way to success. We're damn sure not going to attract any good coach by firing 5 in 10 years. As long suffering fans, we hate to hear it. But, it is going to take time to sort out with people new to coaching and players still making dumb mistakes.

Exactly, folks at KY wanted Stoop's fired years ago and look what he is building. Kentucky is the 2nd best team in the East and may be the best. Their OL and DL are strong. Add Bennie Snell and athletic QB and Receivers and they are looking good. Give Pruitt time , heck even Kirby did poorly his first year at GA with lots more talent that. We have. Go Vols

So 4 games in and some want to fire our coach already, comparing him to Butch? Let's see Butch had 5 years, Pruitt has had 4 games. I keep hearing the same argument about talent on the team and we do have some just at the wrong positions. We don't have an o line and as bad as I hate to say it we don't have a QB. I like JG but watch the games he constantly stares down receivers and all of his moves are so slow. The recruiting rankings are not what they seem to be if you look into them, those rankings are for players we signed that aren't even here now. Example Hurd, P. williams, D. Scott, Mosely just to name a few. All were 4* and aren't here now so if you take them out of the equation those recruiting classes aren't as high as 24/7 make them out to be. As bad as last night was I was there and we had 3 turnovers in the red zone and a fumble through the back of the endzone for a touchback, that's a 28 point swing in their favor, now rather that would've changed the outcome who knows, but it would've been alot closer of a game if all of that hadn't happened but none of that is on the coaches. Everybody has their own opinion but people need to realize the players here were not recruited for this kind of system offense or defense and that does matter. Talent wise I think we're on par with Florida but the mistakes killed us and any momentum we had. I stayed the whole game and supported this team and the coaches like I always will, it may be hard for some to believe but it will get better with Pruitt. Watch what you say because when he gets this Big 🍊 train rolling again full steam it's hard to take back negative comments. As always and forever GBO!!

I think Freak needs to institute an IQ test for starting threads after a loss.
You just inspired a good idea for a forum plugin. It works the way an anti-spam plugin prevents bots from creating accounts except this is one you can enable from the settings in your admin account where it's first installed and then activated to prevent thread creation by automated bots or any entity that can't solve a simple puzzle that only a human with at least below average intelligence can solve. That should do her.

Our previous classes are on par with Florida however developed talent is worlds behind. Butch Jones left this place worse than what he found it.

Butch also downsized the team because he thought quicker was better, and apparently set the S&C toward that goal as well. We don't look quick, we're not big enough and we're not strong enough even for our smaller size. It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock & roll.

So when Saban goes berserk on the sideline......throwing headsets, getting(yelling) in the faces of his players and other coaches, many times even while Bama is ahead.........that affects their recruiting? I don’t think so. What will affect recruits is no improvement throughout the season. Bad losses to Vandy, Mizzou, SC, and UK will affect recruits. Not displays of passion/frustration.

I don't have any problem with him taking a few risks in a game. Kicking the chalkboard probably shouldn't have happened but he's fiery guy and that i like. His offense is hampered by no QB, no Oline, and the OC's gameplan from last night i hope he threw in the garbage on his way out.. The (UF) Linebacker Reese was in the backfield all night. Should of called some quick slants behind him when he sold out, maybe hit the TE a few times. Instead 30 , 40 yard bombs all game. The TE did drop a 4th down pass he should of caught, he wasn't targeted enough though IMO.
Since we've had these OLine issues I've been wanting to see our QB's do some roll-out passing and this is the 3rd year. UT, it seems, is stuck on trying to run the ball behind a poor blocking line and it doesn't make sense to me. I knew before this game started that UF had good DB's who play press coverage and every DC in the SEC knows that JG is going to try and find MC. We have at least 9 receivers that we could rotate and run their DB's ragged. UT is bland offensively and without innovation and our 1st team receivers are still having problems getting separation.
Rolling out,IMO, is easier on our lineman while at the same time harder on pursuing dlinemen. Simply having your QB dropping back to the same place and trying to utilize timing routes isn't working well becauses defenses can easily key-in on it if you don't have any variation. We need an offensive guru to complement our defensive minded coach. UT was actually shooting itself in the foot by running the ball because the clock kept running. Factor in that UF's DB's weren't turning around to find the ball on the deep routes. A pass that is a little under-thrown and our receiver sees it...all he has to do is stop and the DB is going to interfere with him or we'll make the catch. When down by 21 I'm going to almost abandon the run if I really want to win the game because we weren't getting significant results. UF has a not-so-good OLine and our poor DLine was getting penetration and stopping UF a lot of times so I see no reason not to open it up and try to make up points that our offense gave away.

This is easy:
Fisher - National Title Winner
Frost - National Title Winner*
Kelly - 3-time PAC 12 winner
NFL Playoffs
Taggart - I still don’t know who this dude is, but he has experience...but... Do not hire
Morris - he suck = they suck. Do not hire
Sumlin - 88-45 all time record. Has beaten Bammer. Has smoked us.
Gruden - Super Bowl Winner. Tease

Pruitt - freaking...high...school...coach

I’m other words, the guys with success in their prior stops have earned a little more respect/time than the freaking high school coach.

Chip Kelly’s off to a rough start, but he’ll get them rolling.
Fisher’s not a good example. They gave Clemson all they could handle and got beat by the best team in the league. No shame in that.

Let’s also not forget that Fisher is 2-2, with his two losses being to top 5 teams. We have not faced a top 5 team yet. WVA looks to be pretty darn good, but Jimbo’s 2-2 is no where the same to our 2-2.

So Georgia fans weren't pouring money into their program and that's why Richt was fired?

If we gave doofus Dooley five years (yeah, I know, it only seemed like five), we owe Pruitt at least two.

I can’t argue with people like you. You miss the entire point and start arguing about something else. I’m just not going to do it.

Or maybe money didn't have anything to do with what happened at Georgia.
