Automobilia etc....

I would be careful with the '05s. First year of that body style, new engine. I don't know if it's in your budget or not, but if you can find an '08, spring for it. The LS3 and TR6060 trans are worth the money. I owned an LS2 / T56 car and an 08 with LS3 / TR6060 and it's a huge difference.

My .02

I'm a big fan of the c4s, and some day when I can afford a big boy sports car I would like to have one. Any experience with the LT4 C4 vettes? Those seem to be the best of the breed. I loved the look of those as a child.

I would always go for a used corvette. They are a super bargain. It's mainly trusted technology, and there seems to be a healthy aftermarket.

Appreciate it. This is one of the 'vettes I'm watching:

I'll have to check into those. Some of the reviews I'm seeing people seem to be happy with the '05s. Have you had any troubles with them?

C5 and up is where it's at, IMO. My dad has had a few vettes and the 4 was def the lamest one.

Have not owned a C4. Always wanted one just to say I had owned one. I don't think you'd have a ton of trouble out of it, but the ignition and dash electrical are notorious for being problematic.

thanks GWN, I'd love to have a '65, just don't want to drop that much cash, but there not getting any cheaper

It's great you have the skills to do the restoration

Thank you sir. Mine is a '67, and they've become quite desirable. The fact that it's a numbers car helps a lot. I would keep it if I wasn't dead set on a coupe...

That's what I figured, but man the C4 is THE car that made me interested in cars.

I've had four 'Vettes and they're all fun, IMO. Some, or all, look great and some make you feel good. My two favorites were an '82 C-3 and a '94 ZR 1. The 82 was black on black. They came out with something like 230 or so hp. I changed mine back to a hot distributor and pulled the FI and replaced with a Carter AFB on a high rise. Also, changed the cam a bit. It just felt good driving it with the high fenders. Sort of like a mix between a jet fighter and a Batmobile. The '94, I bought used. The original owner had done some mods to jack up the HP. I had it dynoed in Downey, CA at 475 HP. Hooked to a six speed manual, it was a rush running 1/4 miles. I really like the looks of the 2015.

sly, the speed demon

Just got back from my wife's uncle's house. He had one of these in his garage. His was a '36 and the one in the pic is a '37, but almost just like the one he has. This car is called a Cord:

Acura recalling 19.5K cars over automatic braking problem

Acura is recalling 19,502 vehicles to fix a software issue with their Collision Mitigation Braking System on the 2014-2015 MDX and RLX, plus the 2014 RLX Sport Hybrid. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration the technology can falsely interpret things like metal fences and guardrails along the side of the road as obstacles and unexpectedly apply "emergency braking force." Obviously, that would be rather disconcerting while driving.

This is why I prefer a car have as few electronic doodads as possible. Auto braking, auto steering, auto wipers, auto lights...

Once upon a time, it was a good thing to have the human in control of the machine.

While I agree that some of the auto functions are getting way out of hand the one good thing about it is most of the issues can be fixed with just a software download and no actual parts replacement.

And thanks to GM and Toyota all other manufactures are getting recall happy to avoid a law suit. Its crazy how many recalls we see for just software updates to fix something small.

dropped the mini, off yesterday for a few touch up's:

wheels powder coated a gloss black
black racing stripes down the hood
new black grill
windows retinted

here's the before

I'm hoping to pick it up tomorrow afternoon, but it could be Monday depending on the powder coating
