Automobilia etc....

Let's say I'm in the market for a Tacoma.

Should I get a 2015 or wait for the 2016 since it's a remodel? Normally I don't mess with first year remodels since sometimes there's bugs to work out or some issue with the new models.

I have a 07 G35 coupe 6mt that I love, but I miss having a truck bed. They're just too useful.

Unless you're wanting a 4 cylinder (it is a carryover), they changed the 6cyl enough I'd probably just wait...unless they get desparate to move the 15s out of the way. Toyota is cautious enough I wouldn't really worry about Year 1 bugs like a lot of manufacturers.

Regardless of distance, check out Jim Barkley toyota in Asheville. Best dealership experience you can have, BY FAR.

Go visit Jim Barkley then drive down to Hendersonville and visit Bryan Easler Toyota. They will bend over backwards to beat out Barkley.

Oh yeah? My Toyota dealer while bend further over backwards than both of y'alls.

I'm just speaking from experience. Got great service and a fantastic deal in Asheville, but took the 30 minute drive to Easler and all they wanted to do was get me a far better deal

I didn't really compare Toyota dealerships on my FJ, they were all pretty much the same.

I've heard that. Depending on how much were talking about, I'd consider it, but myself, family, and friends just had too many good experiences at JBT to leave over a few hundred bucks.

How much are we talking, and is it only on in stock vehicles?

They added the warranty and paid the TN sales tax and it was still $12 per month (60 months) better with the warranty and taxes added. I also paid $500 less on the diwn payment. They traded with another dealer out of Charlotte to get exactly what I wanted.

I see.

Eh, it's a wash for me. The added warranty doesn't matter much if at all to me and I'll be making a cash purchase.

That's probably why I gravitate toward Barkley so much. They're one of the few dealerships left that doesn't view a cash customer (or one that isn't financing in house) as radioactive.

That, and the fact I will literally pay a little extra to be left alone by car salesmen. I know their "take it or leave it" approach turns a few people off but I love it.

Nerd, meant to mention to you...my wife and I bought a 2014 Mazda3 hatchback and just love it. She drives it daily. Such a fun little car to drive with the 6 speed and all, and we get over 40mpg with it.

That's awesome! What trim level did you go for?

Welcome to the Mazda family. Great choice going with the manual. If I were to buy one, I would get a white 2.0 hatchback manual touring trim.

I price it out once a week, lol.

My wife refuses to drive anything but a manual. LOL. That's what I get for introducing her to Corvettes.

I think ours is a touring. Not the base model, but not the grand touring or anything like that. I really like it. Great size, comfortable seats.

Do you drive with the top down when the heat index is over 100 around here ?

No. I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to top down stuff. For me temps must be between 63-85 for me to take the top down.

Jeep owners though seem to be braver/tougher. They roll around with the top down/off when it's really hot. I suppose it may be due to the difficulty of putting the top back together.

Don't think that's being a wimp. 60-77 for me.

I've come to the conclusion that middle-aged men who are battling receding hairlines and beer bellies should be banned from driving convertibles with the tops down.
