Automobilia etc....

Enjoyment/pleasure is on its face subjective.

In this world of subjectivity though, I think most people will find the miata to be the most fun.

I've had the chance to spend good seat time in many sports/performance cars, of varying layouts and types. Nothing compares to the enjoyment of my miata for me.

Are other cars faster? Yes. Are there cooler cars? Yes. Does it matter? Nope.

I'll still argue all day long that the Boxster is the true best option - absolutely sublime - but the price of entry is higher.

I'm still on the fence between a used 2009 or newer Boxster that can easily be found in the 30s or a new Miata. The Miata will be cheaper to maintain but the Boxster is another level of refinement and fun.

I miss my Si

you'd miss your Miata too...

I had this (89 Si) in black. We called it the ZoomPod

The fact is that if you want a sports car, the MX-5 is perfect. Nothing on the road will give you better value. Nothing will give you so much fun. The only reason I’m giving it five stars is because I can’t give it fourteen.

Drive the new Miata before you make the decision. I feel confident enough to preemptively welcome you back to the mazda family.

OK, so I saw a new Trans Am on John Sevier Highway today. What was it actually? Pretty sure Pontiac hasn't pulled a UAB and resurrected itself.

I prefer the Honda S2000. Very similar to a miata..rear wheel drive and ultra light..but makes 100 more hp. Also being VTEC..it makes peak hp at redline. Everything from power steering to the brakes and fans is electric powered, so that 240 hp does 1 thing....turn the driveshaft. It's a miata on steroids.

As much as I love the s2000 I just find the Miata more fun more of the time. The s2000 is a very serious and involved car. You have to work it hard to get it to preform, until the high lift cam gets going it's a bit mundane. In the alternative the Miata is more linear with its power, so you can have fun even at reasonable speeds. The Miata is just a joyous car.

Both are great, but I find myself driving the Miata 10 to 1 against the s2000. Also helps that I only have to put regular in the Miata vs premium in the s2000, so it makes for a great commuter.

This is of course my biased and subjective opinion.

Agree. S2000 is an Accord until you hit certain RPMs.

Oh I will and I'm leaning Miata but the Boxster has it all plus is considerably better for trips.

Can I just mention again how nice the speed of the new Miata i, especially considering it's got 155hp? Motor trend and automobile magazine got it to run 0-60 in 5.8 seconds.

Let's put that into perspective:

2015 Porsche Boxster($52,100)- 5.5
2015 BMW Z4 ($48,950) - 5.5
2015 Subaru BRZ ($25,000) - 6.3

By no means is 0-60 the end all be all of a car, but I think that it should silence the people who complained about the horsepower rating of the car.

Too bad Honda cancelled them in 2009, which is now 7 model years ago.

There's something to be said for continuity, it's why the Mustang is a better car than the Camaro or the Challenger. It's why the Miata is better than any of it's direct competitors.
