There is no reason Hyundai shouldn't try the small truck market. With their warranty and the success they have had in the car and SUV market they should have success in the small truck market.
If it doesn't work out they could always do like they did with the Entourage van and discontinue it. Hyundai tried the van market and it didn't work out. They quit making them and haven't looked back.
Good points.
That's kind of why I kept suggesting it. [For the record, I'm not suggesting I have anything to do with this. My surveys were crumpled up years ago]
Plus, compared to Ford for example, whatever small truck they have wouldn't be sitting on a lot surrounded by F150s/250s/350s. You would be selling to a pretty different customer than what usually steps on a traditonal truck maker's lot.
Toyota is somewhat bound by their own success with the Tacoma so they can't branch out too much, and with the exception of Nissan, everybody else had given up at the time. Granted, GM has tried to come back in, but their success is questionable at best.
The very interesting part will be seeing how they set their price point. If they can get it right, they might have something to be excited about on their hands, and something they can expland with different models, engines, etc.
