Arnett to transfer?

So if Arnett reads the message boards here it goes:

MAN UP KID! You wanna get out, then it sucks, it really does but you know what, life is a matter of choices and we don't get all that we want. So if you choose to leave Tennessee, you may have to choose to go to a place where is not your first choice. Life is a game choosing one thing over the other and sometimes the choices are not fun.
DEAL WITH IT!

It's really hard to take you serious with a dancing weiner and that horrible quote in your signature.

Works in the AD and is way more credible than your brothers uncles paperboy or wherever you get your information.

I wasnt doubting, was just wondering where the info came from. Yall say he is reliable, I trust that.

Brothers uncles paperboys are a huge factor in what we read on message boards and I just wanted to make sure that i was not relying on that when I was reading his post. I trust from what I read here that Skeet has/is the real deal.

Im not a brothers uncles paperboy kind of guy. I dont listen to it, and I dont deal any of it myself. You folks will get used to me after a while, I will never claim to be an insider and deal crappy info. That is the thing I hate most about message boards.

:good!::good!:

He really wrote a letter and sent it to different media stations?

Pretty sure the media isn't involved. It's between him and the school, and maybe eventually the AA.

He signed the LOI. he has 2 deal with it.

If you don't take a stance on Arnett, this situation could happen again, but with someone who's not being so honest.

Props to Dooley.

Message boards are quite influential in peoples minds these days. I do not like it, but it is the way it is and I can not change it.

Ive been kind of sort of saying the same thing all along. 'Cept maybe in a less angry tone! :)

CMU is not a bad option, given the circumstance. I understands he will wants a BCS conference. . . . but he may just have to take what he gets.

But I will add, it is the recruiting system that is PARTLY to blame here. Not UT, not MSU, not the coaches, but the way the recruiting business is these days we treat these kids like kings for 4 years of HS. We (coaches, schools, fans) tell them how important they are, and how our school will be the school to help them win championships and get to the next level, and then they get to the school and find that life is not as good as they promised and THEY are not as good as they were hyped to be. Its a tough lesson. But that is for another thread.

Best of luck to the kid wherever he ends up. And I hope his relationship with his father gets better while there is still time.

We are letting him go home... Just not to play for any team he wants...Thats pretty fair. Kinda like when you have a job you sign a no compete clause... Kid is gonna be good, we dont want to have kids transfer to teams we could play in a bowl or recruit against.

Stay the course Coach! Don't allow the media to pressure you in to a unconditional release. Something just don't pass the smell test here.

If he didn't get his scholarship renewed, like a lot of players around the country, would you say that our coach is immature?

It's a free country kids can come and go as they please. I think a lot of people with your mindset would fit in perfectly before there were divorces, cause I bet you hate giving someone an option to get out of a marriage.

either way, having somebody on the team who doesnt want to be here is a waste of space and time for the coaches. sure he's very talented but if he stays without wanting to he'll be another freaking bryce brown. its a lose lose situation for tennessee. o well this crap happens every freaking year and im starting to get used to it.

He is 19. What is Dooley's excuse?

At age 18 you're an adult. He made a commitment.

Commitment definition: " an agreement or pledge to do something in the future; especially : an engagement to assume a financial obligation at a future date. "

He pledged to be a vol for four years. A circumstance came up to where he wishes to not value his commitment anymore. Therefore, there are stipulations.

Its just how life is. If you don't make a stance on Arnett, then what's going to stop someone from making up a lie to leave?

Well said. An LOI is a binding contract. It is best to have a policy in place and not waver from it than to take each situation that comes up and make it up as you go.

Being a winning successful coach would stop it. Oh I see, he has no shot at that one. How did his commitment to Cross go by the way?

Any kid, in any program should have the right to transfer if he no longer feels the program is a good fit.

If you recruit the kid and he gets to campus and finds that he is unhappy, why would you want that kid around. Every college coach sells a kid on
1) family values
2) the school is a great place
3) We are going to treat you better than anyone else
d) you are gonna get soooooooooooo laid

And of course the football stuff.

If the kid isnt happy, he is not happy. You either fish, or cut bait. Why would you want a kid around that doesnt want to be here. And if you dont give him a release to a NON SEC school, then how are you looking out for the kids best interests.

He is not looking to transfer to Bama, or USCsr, or Florida. He wants to go home. And that should be all a coach needs to know.
