Arnett to transfer?

Here's the thing:
Rucker says that Arnett is leaving because of his dad and a "few other reasons".

If it was the dad alone, I'd give him a release outside of the SEC, ACC and Pac-12;
But if these other reasons are Baggett leaving, the turmoil of the team, etc. etc. etc. I say release him to any D2 schools and/or Non-BCS conferences.

What bothers me is: his dad was sick when he left.
The condition has remained the same as it was when he left home, so why did he leave?

I think there's something else there that is not totally legit which is why I think UT should take a tougher stance.

The reality of being a 3rd at best option, with loads more talent coming in with the new class probably made this decision easier. I'm not even being an ass here, but lets not kid ourselves. If he thinks he can have more success up north, and gets to spend precious moments with his father...who wouldn't jump all over that?

Melodramatic much?

After being a pallbearer, just 7 days ago, for my best friend's dad, I see no problem with his statement. Although he was afflicted with cancer, he died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 56 last week. Through a long series off tough breaks and getting screwed over, my buddy was forced to move back in with his folks for a few months. He wouldn't go back and trade those months for anything now. This might seem melodramatic until you're faced with the same reality.

no. Seriously. Recruits pay attention to that kind of stuff. If you are 17 and you see a coach not releasing a kid that wants to be closer to his sick dad, that makes a difference somewhere.

And it may only be 1 in 1000 kids that notice, but that one kid may be the one you really need on your team. It is just not smart as a recruiter to NOT release a kid under these circumstances.

This is really bad!! How I haven't talked to one person.... #shame

Just stop. If Arnett wanted to be closer to his sick dad, he wouldn't have said he was staying at Tennessee 3 weeks ago. He wouldn't have come to Tennessee when his dad was sick.

He's leaving because CCB left.

from volquest.com staff last night:

A source close to Arnett confirmed to Volquest.com early this evening that the Michigan native is seeking a release from his scholarship to be closer to home and nearer his father, whose health has deteriorated significantly since the middle of the season.

Or he changed his mind? Or his dad got worse? Don't pretend like you know. CCB leaving probably helped his decision become easier, but you're guessing just like everyone else.

At the end of the day, he is leaving. Does it really matter why he is leaving?

We need nine schollys for the new class. We now have Jackson and Arnett. Seven more to go. Gonna get worse before it gets better.

Are we sure that Da'Rick is really worth the cesspool that he seems to create around himself?

Fine. The kid said 3 weeks ago he was staying, CCB leaves and he bolts. Dooley will likely grant him a full release, but you won't see me caring if he doesn't.

Luckily people that are actually informed as to DA's situation will be making this decision then.

That is a pretty short sighted and cynical view of the UT program. Im not even a UT guy and I think higher of the program and school than that.

Whatever. The only reason he came here was because of CCB. I'm sure you followed his recruitment.

Because there is no way in a span of 3 weeks his father could have gotten sicker. God, I wish someone would let you borrow a clue.

How do you know anything other than what has been posted? I am sure CCB leaving factored into the decision but you have no idea and spew this as absolute fact being the only factor.

And I played high school ball, but I don't think that's a requirement to post on this forum. There is always some crybaby that wants to control what other people say or think. You're better off ignoring me, because I'm relentless. Relentless!

A relentless drama queen, yes.

CCB was the reason that he came here. Yes I followed and I agree 100%. I also know that he took it hard that CCB was leaving.

And I know that there are a lot of things going on back home for this kid. I think that without those things, he would still be a Vol next semester. It is not like the kid came here and thinks that is sucks. Knoxville is a pretty damn good place for an 18 year old kid. the SEC is a pretty good route into the NFL. There were a ton of positives to being at UT, with or without CCB. Yes that is why he came here, but CCB is not on the staff at MSU or um. Family issues are what changed things here.

Well I know all the reports are stating that he has asked for a release but according to Arnetts twitter he hasn't talked to anyone. Here is what his twitter said

"This is really bad! How I haven't talked to one person #shame"

" I haven't talked to anyone! Please stop with all these speculations! Smh"

What is wrong with his father?

I understand the privacy rights behind not disclosing his illness, but it would be nice for that closure. :cray:

You are.

Seems like an excuse to me. He's not getting enough golden treatment cause he's not as good as hunter or da-Rick.

If he leaves, then the kid's just a quitter who wanted prima-donna treatment. but wasn't good enough to justify it. He's going to fail just like Bryce Brown did.

Megafail.

THANK YOU ARNETT FOR GIVING YOUR ALL FOR TENNESSEE GO VOLSSS!!!!! Btw First post on VN!!!!!

Umm, if he quits on the team. he's not 'giving his all' for $hit.
