Arnett to transfer?

he has been considering this since October. what he said after Kentucky was for public consumption but doesn't mean he had stopped considering what he was going to do..the Baggett deal certainly was the final consideration to conclusion.. don't believe everything that is stated publicy... not alway the truth. I'm sure you understand that though..

That all well and good. I'm going to go with what DeAnthony said publicly. He may have considered it, but seemed to have decided against transferring. Then CCB "retired" and the camel's back broke.

I'm not that concerned about him leaving, but I think it's a little misleading to say he's leaving because his dad is sick.

Seems like an excuse to me. He's not getting enough golden treatment cause he's not as good as hunter or da-Rick. If my dad had been getting really sick for several months seems like I would have left sooner than right after CCB left. He's just realizing he's a second rate receiver at wide receiver U.

That beng said, if this turns into one of those stupid rumors like so many on here do, then I apologize.

I just think, when u commit to a school, u stick with it and give your all. And if u need more time with family then u dont go committing to another program cause they will need your time as well. Looks like excuses to me.
It's not a rumor.

"Due to personal family reasons, I've decided to leave Tennessee," Arnett told SpartanTailgate, part of 247Sports, on Wednesday night. "I appreciate everything the Vols coaches have done for me but in the long run the Tennessee program isn't the right fit for me or my family."

You think that after a school as respected as UT offers you a free ride to get a fantastic education, and to be a part of such a great tradition as far as football is concerned, and to get as much playing time as he did as a freshman, you would get a quote a little better than "the Tennessee program isn't the right fit for me or my family."

Just saying... I think it's disrespectful.

This is turning into another drama queen thread with references to war, a rotting fb program, and posters that haven't spoken to the kid, but want to act like they know exactly what is going on.
Whats new.

No. That's not what I said.

It's misleading to say that the reason DeAnthony Arnett is leaving Tennessee is because his dad is sick. I'm sure it has something to do with it, but it's not the only reason, or the main reason.

I'm not the one whining about a kid going back home. Best check your own thongs.

No sissies allowed. wtf is that. My guess is you never competed in football, but are quick to call a college fb player a sissy.

Get over yourself.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood what you meant..

I did say somewhere in this thread or the other, there were 3 reasons for it.. I think he covered all three in his statement about not being a fit..

And I played high school ball, but I don't think that's a requirement to post on this forum. There is always some crybaby that wants to control what other people say or think. You're better off ignoring me, because I'm relentless. Relentless!

:hi: It's not that big of a deal to me. Now, if Neal transfers too, this will hurt. Bad.

What are the percentages of that happening IYO?

probably pretty good. I asked about both these kids last week and sounded like Neal more likely than Arnett at that time. So who knows.. minds can flip quickly. maybe Arnett leaving makes Neal more comfrotable with staying..

Why is Neal considering leaving? He's going to play a big role in the offense if he works. He was getting a lot of touches near the end of the season. Does he just really want to play RB?

child please.

This is more like "one of the reasons dArnett deleted his twitter account"

It is probably a close race between um and MSU, but not a lock either way. I think he is probably a MSU lean, since he was very close to going there in the initial round.

Will be interesting to see how it turns out.

"the right fit" appears to be more about Family, and distance from home. Everything I have read from the kid tells me that he enjoyed being a Vol, and he has a ton of respect for the team, program and school.

I dont know how many of you lived 9+ hours from home when you were a college freshman, but when things are going to crap back home it is very tough.

Heck, Im 46 and sometimes it is tough to not be around my family.

The kid is going through some rough times. I hope nothing but the best for him.

MSU is still a good fit for him, they graduate a LOT of their catches this year. And Andrew Maxwell is the next QB and a good friend of dArnett. They used to workout together during the offseason.

um could be a decent fit, but their QB cant hit the broad side of a barn. They have plenty of playing time for him and he would be the top receiver there, imo.

Im guessing he ends up at MSU, best fit for him, and he is a lifelong Spartan fan.

Here's the thing:
Rucker says that Arnett is leaving because of his dad and a "few other reasons".

If it was the dad alone, I'd give him a release outside of the SEC, ACC and Pac-12;
But if these other reasons are Baggett leaving, the turmoil of the team, etc. etc. etc. I say release him to any D2 schools and/or Non-BCS conferences.

What bothers me is: his dad was sick when he left.
The condition has remained the same as it was when he left home, so why did he leave?

I think there's something else there that is not totally legit which is why I think UT should take a tougher stance.

If you take too tough of a stance, the day his dad passes away will be a very bad one for the Vol program. You dont want to be the program that kept a kid from spending more time with his dying dad.

Things have changed in a year. There have been shootings that involved friends back in Saginaw, his dad is in worse shape than when he left, and he is a year older and wiser.

I wish the kid the best, even if he ends up at um. This is a tough time for him, and this is not an easy decision to make.
