He was blasting Butch for his decision making. Then said he made a mistake and then defending his mistake with a bs excuse in his presser was a joke. Then went on to say he gets paid millions at one of the most desirable jobs in the nation not to be stupid, and that call was flat out stupid!!
He claimed not to be the know all of fb, he's doing radio and TV now, but you just don't make mistakes like that and then defend them.
I'm for the moral support for butch. However, don't you just wish. All his staff would go to a coaching clinic......... As students.I just hope all of this justified criticism from both former players and coaching peers wakes Butch up to his mistakes....It's one thing for us fans to gripe--but it's quite another thing when guys who have been there and done that to make the same points...
He can't run from the reality....the big eye don't lie!
I do believe this is bitter medicine for Butch, but that he will grow through it and be a better coach! :salute:
go vols!
Actually, the state of the program was abysmal when Butch took over. No depth or talent on the roster. A seasoned, veteran coach would see this and not want the headache. An up and coming coach from a mid level program would jump at the chance, hence Butch.
With that being said, the Program now is loaded with Talent and future talent with the current recruiting class taking shape. Now would be the time to get a top level, proven coach. They would jump at the chance to take over the talent that Butch has assembled and win with it...it would give them at least a 2 year head start on their own recruiting.
I am not appealing for Butch to get fired, just stating the differences btw then and now. I am pissed off to know ends at Saturday...and I have lost almost all confidence in Butch's in game coaching, but I haven't dismissed him yet. Let's let the season play out first then visit his job security at that point.
You make mistakes at places like Central Michigan and Cincinnati NOT The University of Tennessee. His chart should have been updated long before we got to the 4th quarter of the most important game of his coaching career (so far).
Lol at one of the most desirable jobs in the nation. That's why all these great coaches have come running to UT when the position was open.
It's this dumb*** ignorant fanbase that makes this job so undesirable.
