Lol at one of the most desirable jobs in the nation. That's why all these great coaches have come running to UT when the position was open.

It's this dumb*** ignorant fanbase that makes this job so undesirable.
:lolabove:
or it could be this inept AD that keeps us from getting them! Only people that fit your description are pretending Jones and staff have not cost us two of the biggest games we have.

When he ran Hurd on 3rd and 10 he wasn't expecting a score. He was content with an easy FG. He was overly excited about getting a TD that he completely overlooked the necessity of going for two. He's guilty of playing on emotion that interferes but amazingly denies that he does. He's definitely not composed on the sideline and he puts himself and the team in such predicaments.Chaos creeps in.

I think that's an excellent point. Often he looks like he is out of control by showing that he's furious. It's one thing to get somewhat upset but he paces the sidelines like he is always mad; not sure that is becoming--more like becoming an irritant. Is that the way he would expect his players to behave? Set the example and play under control.:lolabove:

I am in exactly the same place. But, Butch is out of mulligans. He can't afford to lose this weekend with Georgia and Alabama looming.

Jones could loose out and he'll still be back next season. He took over a bad situation and a lot of cushion was built into the front end. Best we can hope for is that he learns from this and keeps recruiting strong.

Don't know what to say that has not already been expressed. Heard one person refer to the game as a "fecal storm". That sums it up. Have been wondering how to turn the corner when you have a young team. How do you develop a winning mentality? Answer:by winning games like OU and UF. How much confidence would this have given a young team.? The gains would be immeasurable. The coaching staff let the team down and wasted a golden opportunity. When a team like Bama takes the field, they EXPECT to win. You might call it confidence or arrogance, but I would love to have some of that right now. Instead of our team feeling like they can compete with the big boys, they are caught in the crosshairs of fans criticizing their play, coaches making excuses and being the laughing stock of major college football. The players ( and fans) deserve
more. Seems like the season just started and many fans are already and once again looking forward to next year.

Yeah, we just have to hope things get better this year. Next season will be another story. Seat will be pretty warm if we don't make a bowl game this year.

With the bowl win and the expectations this year we were EXPECTING to turn the corner and win those games instead of "hoping" to win, now we are back to "hoping" to win. Anyone still think we are "going" to win the east this year? Didn't think so. Sure it could happen, but I doubt anyone is taking bets.

Finebaum is on now and Marcus is having a "come to Jesus" about some of the calls made by Butch and Co.

GO VOLS!

I agree about the 3rd and 10 Hurd run, he in no way expected a td there and was setting up midfield for a fg! Why run a play off left tackle that we had ran for 2/3 yards 15 times previously. Jalen just got lucky and broke one.

*hear

English is hard

You have no idea.... I taught it at the university
level for forty years. Sometimes I wonder how it is I am still "hear" (here). Students can be a challenge. Nevertheless, "their" (they're) the best thing in the world when "there" (they're) really engaged in the learning process. As a teacher, you have to be patient and remember what it is "your" (you're) trying to implant into "they're" (their) minds.

Aight (that's slang for all right) it was a flipping mistake, and I fat fingered my IPhone and auto correct changed it to "here" wo (with out) me catching it. However, all of us fat finger in' (slang again) iPhone users would like to thank you for pointing out our grammatical errors.

I gave you that "like" because I did, indeed, like your post. My point was that experience has taught me how very confounding English can be. I don't have an IPhone, so your point about the issues with auto correct is very instructive for me. I appreciate that, fellow Vol fan.

Butch deserves to be blasted by everyone in the media. With that being said, I like the guy and hope he works out. But his 4th quarter decision making has been inexcusable.

He wasnt bad in the fourth versus okie. We had the ball for three plays.

Was thinking exactly the same thing.

Anyone who thinks the likelihood of returning a missed fg there was higher than the likelihood of him making it is..well, it isn't a real smart position. Clearly the fg attempt was correct...

Here, butch chose the 3 possession-2 fg/td scenario over the 2 possession-td-td scenario when the 2nd was probably 20x as likely as the first

Great blocking at the point of attack and the Florida safety got too close to the line of scrimmage got caught up in the wash and missed his gap responsibility. Give the players some props. This team ran the ball down the throat of a very good front 7.

Actually, the state of the program was abysmal when Butch took over. No depth or talent on the roster. A seasoned, veteran coach would see this and not want the headache. An up and coming coach from a mid level program would jump at the chance, hence Butch.

With that being said, the Program now is loaded with Talent and future talent with the current recruiting class taking shape. Now would be the time to get a top level, proven coach. They would jump at the chance to take over the talent that Butch has assembled and win with it...it would give them at least a 2 year head start on their own recruiting.

I am not appealing for Butch to get fired, just stating the differences btw then and now. I am pissed off to know ends at Saturday...and I have lost almost all confidence in Butch's in game coaching, but I haven't dismissed him yet. Let's let the season play out first then visit his job security at that point.

No End. English IS hard.

Having seen the Oklahoma and Florida games this year, and the South Carolina game last year, I think regardless of the score in a game, Butch and his coordinators should call the plays as though they are down by two touchdowns all the time. They seem to know how to come from behind, but not how to maintain a lead.

I don't necessarily disagree with him, but if Rick Neuheisel was any good as a coach he'd be on the sideline now instead of the studio.

That's always the funny part about the studio shows. They seem to be populated by wash out coaches and guys who became unemployed because they couldn't read defenses.

Or guys that had BBQs with junior recruits and couldn't recognize their own kitchen or assistant coach's wives in pics.

Then there's that.

...and about 75% of the opinions are discussed in pre-show meetings and fed by producers.

Does this really deserve it's own thread? How many threads do we need that media person "X" says that Butch made poor decisions. As a fan base we have heard anyone and everyone come in and say that, and we knew it well before this past game.
