'19 AL QB Cornelious Brown

So what you are saying is all those elite QBs at Bama are backups except for one , “ the one guy” ? 🤔

Great point. Saban doesn’t operate the way breakerboy described. Neither does Meyer, Harbaugh, or Dabo. Spurrier didn’t either. Heck, Butch Jones didn’t even operate like that.

Hopefully the kid won’t listen to advice like THAT. He needs to go where he wants to live for 4 years, get an education, and get good coaching. The rest will work itself out.

Butch Jones played Worley and Peterman over Dobbs..... That debunks whatever you are kicking.... You all are naming Coaches that routinely get big time QBs. Saban has two Elite 11 QBs committed in 2019. He always has his guys. Playing in the SEC at QB is vastly overrated though. And if you’ve watched this kid he throws the ball around like the Big 12 QBs. But I’m done with this discussion. Good luck to Pruitt and staff on the QB search no matter who they offer.

SN: Education is available at all schools. It’s about football and finding the right fit.

You are all over the place with this one . First ..I would never use Jones to prove any point about using a Qb . Worley gets a lot of flack but he was the system qb at the time , He almost ruined an NFL qb in peterman and butch pull the biggest rabbits foot outta his pocket in history with JD . You put JD on a Clemson or Bama team and we would be talking about him on a Tebow / Cam Newton level . I do agree with your last statement , it’s all about finding the right fit, I don’t think anybody is taking anything away from this kid just right CJP thinks the right fit isn’t with him . I know absolutely nothing about the two except what I read and see but CPJ is old school just like all our high school coaches we remember were and if I had to guess there’s a toughness that one showed in camp over the other that gave him the edge to get the offer . We will never know unless CJP tells us though and even then we will probably second guess him . Lol

Just want to add while we are over here wringing our hands wondering why we didn’t take CB , Maurer the one we did take finished 5th out of 12 in the opening with some really good reviews on how he’s improved himself . Shrugs ... this staff is going to keep on dragging us along kicking and screaming until they prove to us they know what they are doing . This is the most fun I’ve had in recruiting in years , just being able to look around and say “ I ain’t worried , they got this “ lol

Just looked at the results of the opening and Taulia won the long ball toss throwing 66 yards. Maurer threw for 63.

I can't judge boards as being better or not for anyone other than myself. Different people like different environments. Some like to horse around. Some like to debate, argue, trash talk, trade insults, etc.. Some just want news, information and intelligent discussion. Some like interacting with fans of other teams. Some want a safe space without fans of other teams posting there. Some want a mix of some or all of the above to different degrees.

See..the fact that you have three bootlickers liking this wagon load of passive/aggresive condescending horsecrap is what infuriates me..

If TS is going to complain about the way his horsecrap condescending passive aggresive "bringing info" gets treated on VN, then he deserves all the crap hurled back at him..that was a BS move deleting that post.

Staff didn't recruit Chryst to UT to play school, so we will see. Pruitt has made it clear this isn't Year Zero. He wants to win now, so he's not going to start JG and hope he "figures it out." Pruitt and Helton will start whoever they think can win now.
Chryst won’t help us do that. I’m not the only one that thinks he’s trash. A QB evaluator called him a “dink and dunk specialist”. Same guy said that if JG can get some consistency he could be very good. I roll with the young guy that has cam get us the big plays and still be effective in the short game rather than a dude with a bum knee and that couldn’t get it done in an offense that should have set him up to succeed

If you had seen his practices, you would know why Dobbs was not playing. He was not very good at throwing the ball when he arrived at Tennessee, but did improve a bit before he left. His running was fantastic and was his largest contribution to the VOLS. I expect that he has an even chance of staying in the NFL after their Summer camp.

LOL! 'Trash' is your word, not Detillier's. That's a broad leap to claim he thinks the same about Chryst as you do when he said Chryst is a 'dink and dunk' QB and you say he is 'trash'.

And ftr. I am not promoting one QB over the other; I just dismiss your notion that Pruitt will start JG simply because he has greater upside and will let him figure things out during the season. Nothing Pruitt has said suggests he will do anything other than start the QB who gives us the best chance of winning this season. If that is JG, then fine by me. I am actually pulling for him. I simply thought what you said was wrong.

“Dink-and-dunk specialist” is a nice way of saying he’s not very good. And I’m saying the opposite. I’m worried that Pruitt and Helton will play Chryst over JG because chryst is their guy. I think JG should play because he has the most upside and has years to develop with us. If he doesn’t play he’s gone.

Playing chryst to go 7-5 vs playing JG to go 6-6 is an easy choice for me.

Me too...take Chryst with 7 wins and a chance to reach 8 with a bowl win, then sell it like crazy to finish off this class really strong, as well as the 2020 class and landing elite QBs in both.

Yeah but if we have a terrible year 2 because we don’t have a good QB then recruits aren’t really going to want to listen

Actually, it proves my point. You’re saying coaches cater to “their guy”, regardless of who gives the team the best chance to win. Dobbs was Butch’s guy, yet he rolled with Worley. Why? Because he felt like Worley gave us the best chance to win.

My point with the other coaches is the same. They aren’t married to one guy. You bring a lot to the board but you are wrong on this one. No biggie.

Your point about playing in the Big 12 is valid though. Generally speaking, it’s a better conference for QBs. That could be because Big 12 defenses aren’t as good or it could be because SEC offenses aren’t as good. I don’t know. But Helton, Chaney, and Mullen have proven that their systems are good for developing quarterbacks.

Well the opposite of 'not very good' is 'very good'. Is that what you are now saying? 😁

But just to put this in context, I am pretty sure Detillier wasn't trying to say that being a 'dink and dunk' specialist means Chryst is trash. The Patriots run a dink and dunk offense and I am pretty sure no one considers Brady to be a trash QB. Joe Montana was considered a dink and dunk QB as well, and again, definitely not a trash QB, or even a 'not very good' QB.

I’m worried that Pruitt and Helton will play Chryst over JG because chryst is their guy. I think JG should play because he has the most upside and has years to develop with us. If he doesn’t play he’s gone.

I am not worried. I think they will play who they believe will win. If JG doesn't win the job then he shouldn't start. It is that simple to me. If he transfers so be it.

Playing chryst to go 7-5 vs playing JG to go 6-6 is an easy choice for me.

Until they show otherwise,I trust Pruitt and Helton to make the proper evaluations during fall camp, and make a decision based on what they see. I don't think they will just start Chryst because 'he is their guy', because he is just a one year guy, so it is not like they think he is a long term investment for their offense. Just let it play out rather than be fretting before a decision is even made.

And not to mention i think worley could have been a really good qb with a solid foundation for him.

They will play the guy that they feel will win games with the guys around him. He just wants to win. Chryst pickup was more about making sure there is actually a competition and not going into the season with a QB that has been injury prone and holds ball too long to get smacked around. Which would then leave you wth McBride and a freshman if you don't have Chryst.

I agree on bringing in chryst for depth and competition. My point/is will he get bias in his favor since he’s pruitt and helton’s guy and JG isn’t. How much impact will that have if it is an even battle at the end of fall camp?

I wonder this because Max Browne initially played over San Darnold. How much say did Helton have in that decision? People knew Darnold was special with Sark’s coaching staff. They told people that they thought Darnold would be the next Andrew luck and it looks like they weren’t far off.
