2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

Didn't they just recently layoff like 20% of the companies workforce? I'm also a contractor and know first hand they are terrible to work for on that end also.
He took 100s of millions in government investment before he decided to layoff 10s of thousands of employees. So, he has that going for him.

Rubin did that in the Big Pumpkin Conference, though. Just quoting his stats isn't really proof of anything until he steps uo to Felix's competition level. I'll wait until I see him do it in the SEC to definitively call him and Felix a wash.

That's fine...but can't you say that for comparing everyone we have landed in the portal?

Felix had some really good games, but just like JP was inconsistent. Rubin is a 11.3ppg, 7.1rpg, 2.3apg, 2.3bpg 58.5% FG every one of those is an upgrade over Felix's best numbers except FG%

Unless I'm missing your criteria for comparing I think Rubin is more than capable of stepping into the SEC and meeting Felix's season of 8ppg, 6.3rpg, 1.5bpg

I don’t like just comparing stat lines because it misses a lot of important context. I’m not out on Rubin, I just am skeptical how the skills will translate. If I remember correctly, he didn’t play a single P4 team in his 3 years at Loyola.

It’s likely that Rubin could step in and give us a similar Okpara stat line, but I also don’t think Rubin will be the complete defender that Okpara was and how that impacted the game beyond rim protection.

That ranking is fair. But I feel really good about Hill. you know it when you see it sometimes. And he might have it.
He does have “it” imo. We haven’t had length at pg in awhile and he can shoot. We also had no other player outside of Gillespie who could penetrate last year. We have 2 others now and added a better shooter than we had on the team last year. In the words or Borat, I’m excite.
Not to mention I like Browns game. We will have a freshman or two who surprises like he did last year. His defense on the perimeter and inside was really good. One of the better passers on the team as well especially feeding the post on the hi low. Needs to work on a little 8-10 footer. Has a good floater and gets the ball on the square quickly without having to gather.

I guess I don't get why my opinion is being challenge when Mookie's wasn't lol

If you wanna wait and see that's fine. But Mookie who I was replying to made a spot for spot...I offered my changes.

Ja'Kobi and Nate are the only 2 on this year's roster I don't think we've replaced with one player directly. I think Haralson is better than JP though and I think Rubin will be as productive as Felix. The rest I agreed with.

Hill played in the same Big Pumpkin Conference as Hill and no one seems to be dragging him over it.

I’m not challenging your opinion, I’m just providing context for why I don’t think Rubin and Okpara are comparable…yet! Maybe they will be, but as far as I’m concerned I just don’t know enough about Rubin because I don’t have a single data point of how it will translate against better teams.

We’ve seen Hill, Dai Dai and Haralson show up offensively against top competition

I mean I'm not sure what you define as top competition...Rubin is capable of putting up big stats, at VCU he dropped 21 points with 10 rebounds on 64.3% shooting.

It may be recency bias, but I don't feel like we've ever really had length at PG under Barnes.

It''s a little odd that we've had more undersized PGs IMO under Barnes.

Not unless you're being intentionally rigid. Ames and Haralson from the ACC should translate. I guess you can make the case that Hill and Lundblade have to prove it, but unless Hill got extremely lucky against UNC and played the game of his life, I think he gave you a glimpse. Also was really good against Illinois. He also combined for 39 pts in 48 minutes early on against Vandy, NC State, and VA Tech.

Rubin didn't really play any high major teams to have an idea of how he might perform at this level. I think we all hope it translates, but we just don't know.
