2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

I’d prefer them all 😂 (duh)

But I’m taking Ament first with Juke and TT to follow bc of how our current roster is constructed.

I also think Nate having a full season with Barnes and knowing exactly what is expected would be a benefit.

So I'd probably have my order with Nate > TT > Juke. With Hill/Dai Dai and also Lundblade/Haralson already on the squad I agree adding a PG/SG is likely less needed. But Nate's the unicorn of those 3 names with his size/length and potential jump year 1 to 2.

Is Juke a 2 or 3. I have him and Ament at the same spot, but maybe Juke is a 2. I think TT and Hill are a killer combo at guard.

Don't know if this has been discussed but is there any chance Jakobi could get the TT money if they let them stay a fifth year?

That’s about par for the course for this board. We’ve now derailed a discussion to literally debate adjectives.
Well if we all want to get real about the situation, then Hill is more of an athelete than crafty. Jokic is way more of an example of a crafty player ...

Unpopular opinion, but Ament never showed me enough before the injury to be completely sure he can be elite next year.

Really crazy take.

Ament isn’t even a finished product and has so much room to get better.

6’10 wings who can shoot are really hard to come by.

Dude was playing really well before his foot injury and it slowed him down.

You’d have to be absolutely insane to turn him away if he wanted to come back next season.

Thats tough, Juke was a bit better of a player this year but he's a 2/3. Nates 3/4 on this team and has a massive ceiling. But Juke might have a massive ceiling as well. Just give me either. Idc.

i disagree, that span he had middle of the season was elite. he easily should’ve had like 5+ 30 point games this year
Yup.

Like I said yesterday, some of us have short memory spans. He was killing it before the injury. Another off-season with coach Barnes (and added weight and conditioning) and who knows?

Better to pull some ambiguity out of your pants than use actual words that apply to a sport. The kid isn't Wiley Coyote. I've played, watched and coached a lot of basketball over some decades. I've not heard anyone not connected to a bong call a player "crafty". Up close, Hill is something I'd refer to as "athletic". I'm sorry that won't get him under an Acme electric fence, but the kid can move, handle the ball, get past defenders to the goal and shoot. His has elite lift and a very graceful motion. If you want to roll up some D&D characters, feel free to make one "crafty", or maybe you meant he'd be apt at making a leather belt or an ashtray at camp. My position is that Hill is an athlete. Full stop. F'n A. This place can be an intellectual swamp.
I'm sorry a difference of opinion has bothered you so much that you've decided to spill your bag of tortured metaphors all over the place.

Btw -- you have more than once lamented the "intellectual" environment here, but this is a sports message board. Maybe reconsider the power of your own intellect if your expectations are so far removed from the reality of the experience.

"Crafty" is a term that many basketball fans understand. If you are confused by my use, I'll share what my computer spit out: "In basketball, "crafty" describes a player who uses guile, high IQ, and clever tricks rather than pure athleticism to outsmart defenders and create scoring opportunities. Crafty players excel at using fakes, changing paces, and manipulating defenders with ball handling to create space, often compensating for a lack of elite speed or jumping ability."

I understood the meaning immediately when I heard it uttered, years ago, by our most prominent Jewish coach at a UT basketball coaching clinic. No bong in sight, but then again there weren't any players around.

You made the comparison of Hill to Gillespie. Gillespie is far more athletic in every way -- speed, quickness, vertical leap. If I am wrong, I'll be even more excited about next season!

Hill seems like a great player too and I am excited about him. He will do very well here. I personally don't see "elite lift" like you do, but I think he will find a way to succeed here. From what I've seen he reads the game well and takes care of the ball in addition to a big time scoring ability. Very crafty of him!

I don’t think I have ever disagreed more with an opinion in this thread, lol.

Surely you’re just saying this because he’s probably not coming back, so that means “we don’t want him anyway!”, right?

Agreed. Well said.
