I hope CRB and staff don't think like that. If we want to get to the next level of success, then we need to bring in the studs to do it.Anytime I see a Euro kid and Illinois involved, I just assume its over. Their whole roster is Wagler, Boswell, and then a bunch of Xxxxxsic's

I'm sure the staff has a far more prudent view of the recruiting landscape than I doI hope CRB and staff don't think like that. If we want to get to the next level of success, then we need to bring in the studs to do it.
I'd be surprised if he's back next season. He's got skills, but if the number being thrown around is 7 figures, I'd pass. Kid is just injury prone. I'd use that money elsewhere.Do we not also need to be actively seeking a stretch 4? Or are we banking on Estrella being healthy next year and able to fill that? Or maybe 1 of the incoming freshmen...
I agree. Estrella can ball when he is healthy. But he has a problem with staying healthy. I'd say we give him another shot if we don't have to pay him too much. But if he asks for too much, cut him loose and use the money for another kid in the portal.I'd be surprised if he's back next season. i know for a fact that transferring is not off the table. It’ll depend on his evaluation after the combineI've quietly wondered about that. I agree he'd be an excellent fit in this system. Byington nailed that evaluation. Until a couple weeks ago, I had no idea TT was from Tennessee. Hidden in plain sight.
He played at Brentwood Academy. He was viewed as an offensive guard who couldn't play defense then so makes sense why Barnes was not the highest on him then. He is a Nashville kid from a well off family, so I don't think he would just jump to jump. He was also a Stackhouse "screw it, we'll take you" add and not a Byington eval iirc. I think he stays at Vanderbilt nglI've quietly wondered about that. I agree he'd be an excellent fit in this system. Byington nailed that evaluation. Good point. He was an inherited commit for Byington. Still, Byington could have decided he wasnt a fit, but kept him anyway and was a key contributor from the jump. So, maybe Byington gets the credit for seeing something and developing rather than discovering him.He played at Brentwood Academy. Few thoughts here: I know his dad (not well) through mutual friends. His dad played at Rice. They are big on Vandy and the education. They’re all a little shocked that he moved up the board and is getting so much attention. He’s recently been getting late 1st round grades. I think they’re torn because they want him to get a degree from Vandy. I watched him play in HS. He was even skinnier and shorter then, but obviously his first step, release, recovery speed, shot are all incredible. At 5 11” in real life measurements, he’s a tough pick, but scouts really like him. I think he’s probably 75% go to the NBA and 25% stay at Vandy. I think his family’s influence is strong. I don’t see him transferring. This is all conjecture. I have no insight from our side.I've quietly wondered about that. I agree he'd be an excellent fit in this system. People with degrees from private schools tend to really overestimate the value of getting a degree from a private school. I think it’s something subconscious about justifying the expense and it seeps in culturally even for the people who went on scholarship.
If his dad went to Rice, I would be surprised if he didn’t indoctrinate him into that mindset
I didn’t say it actually matters, just that it probably matters a good bit to his dad. This is purely conjecture but I would imagine literally being Tyler Tanner, former NBA player and public figure, will go much farther in getting him a good job and post-basketball career options than his degree saying Vanderbilt instead of Tennessee.
Mom played at Rice too. This is a deep point guard class for draft. Feel like they will be very thorough. Would make sense to come back as a 5'11 point guard who could use another year of development when the 2026 class is viewed as not that good generally. Difference between FRP and SRP is a guaranteed contract so that's a big dealFew thoughts here: I know his dad (not well) through mutual friends. His dad played at Rice.
