2025 Transfer Portal

Those first two rounds of the tourney were always poorly attended.
I have attended all of them, and at the time I noted that it was the worst attended. Perhaps there could have been another one about that low. The tournament here typically drew less than the season average, but more often in the 7 - 11,000 range with a few better than that. They started going down during the Holly years, especially towards the end of her tenure. If we host next year, I would love to place a bet with you that our attendance will be much better than 5,000.

Addendum: After posting this, I then got a trauma memory of Holly's last couple of years, and those were just over 4,000. I think I just wanted to wipe out that home drilling by Oregon State from my mind. MY original post was not a slam against Kellie, as there was a small increase overall in interest compared to the last few years of Holly. Several teams average more than 5,000, which we typically have and should in the future.

I'll never forget that time Destinee torched us for 22 points and got SIX rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals in a game we barely beat Belmont in. She was truly special before injuries took her mobility.

Great player, she was always meant for the mid-majors. Should have stuck it out at Belmont.

So many kids thinking moving up is the best idea. Playing where you have the most opportunity to be great is always the best plan. There are several very successful mid-major players in the W like Sloot and Alysha Clark. They stuck it out and were the top dog in their league and earned a spot in the pros.

Barker would be a hard match up for Strong IMHO.
If Strong is playing the 4 spot, or even some 3 (which she will be able to do this next season) then I can’t imagine many matchups she will not win. It’s pretty simple stuff. She will be on the short list of pre season All American candidates next season. Barker is good, but she is not Sarah Strong good.

Uconn is the rightful preseason #1 for many reasons, Strong is maybe the top reason. Fudd and Williams are not far off for top reasons. Also, GA is still the coach there, that might be the top reason if we are being honest here. He has no equal in the game today. If you disagree, then show me another who has been to 17/18 last final fours…it is absolutely a record that will never be broken.

Someone break it down. I'm interested, but not enough to watch.
2:25 : 5:14 some of highlights of video listed in order.
Hints during the season Fulwiley wasn't happy Instagram "finding my true home and needing be somewhere I can be myself"

Fulwiley question her role in the offense mid season Dawn Staley told her to fall in line or fall behind. According to Witnesses supposedly.

Getting NIL deal 800,000 season from LSU.

Guy also says something about national championship celebration but just his opinion on that one he doesn't give a source.

All of the short break down in that 2:25 to 5:14
I owe one for posting a link I was having trouble with.
That in the second video post #4903

Janiah Barker was the #3 prospect out of HS in 2022. Sarah Strong was the #1 prospect out of HS in 2024.
Sarah Strong didn’t win the matchup last season against Lazaria Spearman now at Tennessee who was the #30 prospect out of HS in 2022.
Barker, just as Spearman weren’t ever in highly structured programs early on in their collegiate careers. Spearman won some at the U, but overall it wasn’t a place that has the resources, networking, and ability to develop players like Tennessee.
The program a player goes to weighs heavily in the perception of media and fans which is why people act as if every year there’s one or two players invincible when in reality they are not.
Every accolade Strong received out of HS, so did Barker.
So perhaps, wait until you see Barker vs Strong to make your assumptions of how good Barker is. She was prior to returning for her senior season projected as one of Top 10 picks in the WNBA draft.

Since you think things have to be verified through you… taking a part of the whole statement and trying to be sarcastic is the only substance you bring to topics so I’ll break it down.
As I stated, wait until they play this season.
Same as with Lazaria Speaman.
Janiah Barker stock is likely to go up at Tennessee.
She was already projected as a Top 10 WNBA draft pick.
Who is to say if she’s not better than Strong or any other player?
That’s like saying Saquon Barkley could never lead the NFL in rushing and become arguably the best player on a Super Bowl team, before seeing him with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The New York Giants Saquon and Philadelphia Eagles Saquon looked completely different to some but the guy was elite even when he was losing in New York.
Janiah Barker is an elite talent and second to none at the forward position as an athlete. The LV staff could unlock her potential as a complete player.
Where you play matters!
Common sense.
I don’t care about the childish 5 year old takes.
We’ll see.

…yer killing me, Smalls. 🤣🤣🤙🏼

Knox, no disrespect, but Strong is a “strong” candidate for first pick in her eventual draft, and an almost certain AA. Barker is a good player, very good, but Strongs numbers in her first season beat Barker’s in all three seasons of her career so far. Pick the stat, rebounds, points, fg%, assists, turnovers, etc etc….Strong is on another level. It’s ok btw, she doesn’t have to be better than the likely best freshman in the country, she just needs to be good for Tenn which she will be. But no, she isn’t a better player than Strong.

I don’t get it. I know what I saw when Tennessee played UConn.
You all go to the extreme to attempt to prove a point that is irrelevant. This is a new year. I’m not arguing if Sarah Strong is a better player or not. It doesn’t matter to me. I’m saying wait and see when they play to decide if Barker is able to match up.

Lazaria Spearman did in front of 16000-17000+ elite fans on Rocky Top in a victory over UConn.

Player A 25 minutes 16 points, 7 rebounds, 1 block
Player B 39 minutes 18 points, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks

She wasn’t on another level in this game.
I would bet that she won’t be against Janiah Barker either at Tennessee.
Janiah Barker at the end of her sophomore season at Texas A&M was looking like the #3 prospect in the 2022 class. Some of the same arguments you are making against Barker could’ve been made against PaoPao while she was at Oregon. I’m willing to bet going to SC helped PaoPao profile as a player, just as coming to Tennessee can help Janiah Barker. PaoPao would’ve never been seen as anything close to an AA had she stayed at Oregon or perhaps even drafted.
The program a player plays for matters.
We’ll see.

Can't wait to see how this team and players come together this year. we certainly have better talent than last year and filled a few holes. However, we will have less experience than we had this year, but the Freshmen seem to be super talented. I also like what we have gotten in the portal, but we need to recruit behind them with some more great high school talent next year and use the portal to fine tune annual short turn needs.

This.
This is why I think Danny considers CKC's system "the future" of women's basketball.

Since the college women's game still takes place below the rim, there's an inevitable stagnancy about to happen, as the best programs will be able to stack their rosters with outlier height. Then, the game becomes a dull-to-watch battle of DNA and 3-point shooting.

Our system is staking the claim that there's another way to beat height, that allows more sizes of players to achieve success and creates a more enjoyable game for spectators.

Time will tell...
A high risk but high reward system is fun to watch.

Rest of story.
And more fuel LSU and South Carolina. rivalry.

Her assist numbers and 3 pointers were less than her turnovers. Fulwiley will not fit in with LSU. Mulkey will bench her before the halfway point of the season. Fulwiley is more interested in making "Sports Center" highlights and that won't work with Mulkey. She should have gone to Vandy where scoring would be welcomed even at the way Fulwiley wants to do. That 16-game win streak we have against LSU doesn't say....rivalry. It says dominance. When it comes to the money.... heck yes....I would have gone there also....lol....

Dawn Staley system won one national championship while Fulwiley was there.
If Fulwiley question her role in the offense in front of the team like the video said.
Fall in line or fall behind.
Pat Summit probably would have said something like that.
Dawn Staley doing anything else she would have loss control of her team.

She doesn't seem to be in a hurry.

I’ve heard OU and LSU are most likely for her. She has a lot of potential but hasn’t reached it yet for some reason. Very athletic kid but three years under Vic and minimal improvement is a red flag for me. He develops players like nobody else, he took a bunch of 3 stars and Victoria Vivians to the national championship.

If he can’t get it out of a player I’d be afraid to try haha
