Every day I play these NYT games, in this order: Wordle, Connections, Strands, Mini Crossword and Spelling Bee. One time I opted to play Connections first and it threw my entire day off. Lesson learned.

That’s almost my same order. If you haven’t yet, add Nerdle (math equation) and Worldle (geography). They aren’t in that NYT bundle but can be easily searched.

Challenging but so fun. I'm driven mad by Quordle and Worldle. I cheat and have a world map pulled up for Worldle.

I'm curious what everyone uses for a first word in wordle. I use ADIEU.

I like to mix up my start words for Wordle but they always have an a and e, and usually then have at least some of these letters: s,t,r,l, and occasionally o, d c. Slate, stare, and adore are three faves. The wordle research per NYT indicates that adieu is the most used but is not the most helpful starter though good.

Interesting! Sounds like me - fooled by the obvious when it’s not the best choice. Did they say what is most helpful?

In my second step, I fish for the O, the only vowel not yet checked. I also try consonant combos in that step - st, br, etc.

I use sauté and then choir if Sauté was no good.

I start with haste followed by either flour or dying, depending on my mood and what the first word reveals. These 3 words use all the vowels and a chunk of the most common consonants.

I used to use baste as the first word but did a little research and learned “h” is in more words than”b”.

Definitely got a little off topic. No biggie, though. Kinda slow on the transfer wire…

A mod, if they actually checked in occasionally, should move all of this word game conversation to potpourri…
