2025 Transfer Portal

I disagree. Prospects, college coaches, HS basketball analysts, handlers, and their families put a lot of that stuff out there on social media as a recruiting tool just to make Tennessee look bad because they knew people would believe that kind of stuff.
I heard something interesting when Zia Cooke told the Pauldo twins months before they committed to Tennessee when they sought her out for advice pertaining to NIL and recruiting; she simply said don’t go to a school where coaches promise you anything. Zia Cooke told the twins Coach Staley didn’t promise her anything and that’s why she went to SC. I can see how many of these players outside of one or two that Tennessee supposedly loss out on due to NIL were promised deals they haven’t ever seen.
Coach Caldwell, Coach Lazo, and Coach Tubner signed 5 HS players in the Top 50 including 3 McDAAs seven months on the job without dangling a bag of money no matter what anyone believes.
So again, much of the rumor has been debunked if not proven to be as Zia Cooke told the twins, “ false promises to get you to commit”.

Odd statement given that Zia Cooke has one of the biggest NIL deals in WCBB.

I think you are confusing something like a coach making promises about playing time with NIL $, the latter is not something that most coaches directly negotiate. Also, all SC WCBB players are paid 25K per year via the team's NIL deal.

I am not sure why you are so committed to this fiction that players and their families don't care about NIL deals but all available evidence argues to the contrary

I’m not confusing anything, you are putting a lot of credibility into a false narrative that’s often a tool for clicks on social media.
Simply put, in 7 months a new coaching staff at Tennessee signed 3 5-star prospects and 2 4-star prospects including 3 McDAAs without dangling NIL deals. Those articles mean nothing the Pauldo twins have had NIL deals since 16 years old and still sought Zia Cooke advice who gave them her input. I paraphrased what her response to them was.

Nope, can't trust CBS news; they are part of the grand conspiracy to... do something.

It seems really important to you that The LVs somehow signed a #2 recruiting class without spending any NIL $ and I presume to believe that all the info about Jewel negotiating an NIL deal before re-committing was all part of the "BIG LIE" and so on.

Fine and dandy. You do you.

I think back to what DeerPark told us a while back. That of the 2025 class coming to TN, 4 of the 5 had better NIL deals at other schools and they STILL chose to come to TN.
It's important, but NIL is not at the top of recruits lists.

Most portal players are looking for Nil deals or a better one than they already have. Some recruits are looking for Nil deals like number one in the 2025 class.

They really can’t promise you a better deal if you’ve never played a college game though. Listen to Zia Cooke conversation with the Pauldo twins. A booster, family member, or fan simply doesn’t understand the difference in NIL deals and connections/opportunities that is negotiated. They are misinterpreting what a better NIL deal would be and that’s what Zia Cooke was referencing in her conversation. A better deal which actually really comes down to playing time, and things like housing, cars, apparel, brand endorsements etc. is why a good number of former top HS recruits end up in the portal after their freshmen season. A brand doesn’t have to honor that deal if you spend your freshman season on the bench.

The thing I’m most encouraged by this offseason is the coaches aren’t showing their hand on their targets and doing it by the book heading into the transfer portal window. That could be due to the fact that the focus is on the NCAA tourney which is even more encouraging or perhaps they understand how now every move made by (Tuber and Lazo) from their daily operations to on social media is under a microscope.
We’ve already heard just days into the offseason how one SEC coach is rumored to have already tampered with a player that entered the portal with a do not contact designation; this past fall Tennessee assistant coach and program self-reported a recruitment issue surrounding meeting a recruit on a visit.
Fans on here like to try to discredit any clear information of how situations are different at Tennesse for no reason. All that childish stuff in certain posters comments is for the birds.
A situation that other schools had already experienced with the same recruit but they turned in Tennessee coach and the reality is that could’ve done damage to this program if it hadn’t been handled the right way.
This isn’t a conspiracy, reality and facts always on this side. It’s the way the best do it.
GBO!
Looking forward to welcoming future LVs.

Well one thing is for sure you cant be lazy playing this style......i think she would be an absolute beast in this system.....

Say she IS a little lazy outside of game day. Maybe she has aspirations to play professionally either in the U.S. or abroad and has decided to get herself in gear and develop better practice habits? Going somewhere that demands high energy would be perfect for a player who wants to grow up and develop better habits.

Oh good. Go get her, TN!!!
I haven't seen her film, but if we just have only 1 or 2 scholarships to give to transfers, we have to aim for the top power 4 conference prospects who can be a big who is a defensive stopper as well as a top scorer. Serah Williams sure fits the bill! We can't be just built for the press defense, as much as the time we are actually in half-court defense where size underneath the goal matters! I hope we can get a couple like this one. Then, the sky is the limit.

Even Gino can't rest on his and UCONN's laurels. He said it is unbelievable how much has changed in recent years related to demands for money.
