2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Can't recall any service ever claiming this kid was a 5 star. Overhyped yes. But even Michigan mods were warning the fan base not to get too excited.

He was very early on rated as the #1 player in his class and remained in the top 30 until the Spring of 2023. He started off playing in Fort Mill, which is where I live, and was a big deal. Then Charlotte area high school boosters bought him and he transferred there. Didn't develop as expected or as you said was over hyped, but he was at one point a 5 star by at least 247Sports.

Tennessee was in on him early and thats the only reason I remember.

Haha is their director of player development? And he's talking **** about players leaving on X? Idk how Bama has kept it on the tracks this long, but I think they are derailing soon.
Based on actual production he had a point. Still shouldn't have said it on social media. Everybody is quoting IU's Cignetti now and he had a spot-on comment about how they evaluate transfer portal candidates. Production over potential. A lot of the more touted portal players are longer on potential than production. Very few Caleb Downs types. But Miami had a few of the "potential" types and their defense did a 180 from the previous season.

I tell you misery loves company and many of the big boys are in panic mode. I have seen ND, AL, OSU and several others in a tizzy this portal season.
Just goes to show how universal the idiocy was. ND's most significant losses, besides the NFL, were the backup quarterback to Kentucky and key reserve DE to Indiana. Nobody else in their 2-deep. But because their many platforms promised fans a bonanza of portal candidates BY NAME A WEEK PLUS BEFORE THE PORTAL ACTUALLY OPENED their fanbase went into a "woe is us" mode. It's not as one sided as some complain it is. Some of these kids were asked to take pay-cuts after the House Settlement went into effect. Which is an invitation to hit the portal. Kaleb Beasley probably a perfect example. You get $150,000 out of high school and you're asked to settle for $35,000 while an incoming high schooler gets $250,000 you'll probably get that message loud and clear. Especially if the $150,000 was the main reason you chose that school in the first place.

I hope all of TTU's purchases offer this level of return.
This is a kid they guaranteed 8 mil

Got his butt dealt to him the whole camp.

Unlike these silly camps he'll get to wear pads at TT. Makes a difference in OL play. And the $8 million dollar figure being thrown around by jilted Texas fans was proven to be a fraud by Nakos at ON3. The sour grapes are strong when it comes to recruiting be it high school or the portal.

All fan bases are like that but Texas fans took it to a new level. Early on when they were suffering losses like Ojo the spin was Sark wasn't going to disrupt the sanctity of the locker room by overpaying those entitled high schoolers and their agents. When Texas started buying kids like Wesley and the linebacker from Georgia the chorus changed to a juvenile "your school so poor...." chant.
