2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

When you run the numbers this way for all the other Ncaa teams, where does our offense rank?
I Would say every P4 teams scoring average is inflated by playing the 4 OOC cream puffs every season... The more telling stat would be in conference scoring averages... Tennessee averaged over 34 ppg in SEC conference play... 28 ppg vs the top 25 ranked teams.

Football produces tons of data. And it is easy to reject the data and explain it away. We see it all the time. What we don't see is when the same metric of explanation is recalculated for all the teams in the data set.
To be fair, it is very difficult to apply the metric "scoring average against top 25 teams after playing Georgia" to other teams.

No we showed variety at the beginning of the year. Then we just stopped after UGA game.

Yeah we always bet the crap out of cream puffs but can’t get over 30 against any Top 25 team.

It’s not as bad as the defensive issue but it’s a problem.

Don’t have to score 30 every game to win if the D can stop someone

Agreed. But in a discussion about the number 1 (or whatever it is) offense, the recalculation is only useful once all teams have been re-ranked. At least to me.

I’m not doing that lol.

Indiana scored 38 vs Alabama.
Tennessee scored 20 against them.

Again AFTER UGA. We just stopped with the scripted play calling for the most part.

If we’re going to be vanilla and fast like Heupel likes then we need to be a lot more physical on both sides of the ball. Period.

I'm not telling you to not have an opinion or what type of fan to be. But if you're gonna poo-poo the data without recalculating the same standard for all the teams, then there is nothing relevant about the opinion you've offered.

And that’s your opinion. I’m not here to debate.
Couldn’t care less if people believe me or not.

I am not here to affirm or refute your opinion. I thought since you offered, you had done some digging.
I have. And it’s been posted by others on here.

@sjt18 has actually tried to make people aware of this since the beginning.

But fans will still shout and yell “ we the number one offense in da kuntry “!

Debates are a waste of time. Heupel has shown he can retool his offense. Kurt Cignetti is all about consistency. Consistency cuts both ways
Coaches and Player execution. Consistent unbalanced play calling and playing fast if you’re the player.

So if our roster is down to 76 how high can we go up with the increases to 105 across board. I can’t believe I read where we were still going to be under the number until 2028. I thought we self pentalized?

Why didn't you just lead with this instead of how you chose to go about it? I'm simply looking for info. And you asked me to go find it when it's already been posted. Much easier just to be helpful from the start.

If you can approximate when sjt posted the info, I will search it out.

You’re confusing anecdotes with data. Let’s return to the topic now.
