Wayne Covington was sentenced to life in prison after he shot and killed an 18-year-old for money to buy heroin. Pennsylvania Democratic Senate nominee John Fetterman wants him to walk free.

In June 2021, Fetterman was the only member of the state's Board of Pardons—which he chairs as lieutenant governor—to vote to commute Covington's sentence, according to records reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon. In 1970, Covington admitted to shooting 18-year-old George Rudnycky to death while high, as Covington and an accomplice were robbing Rudnycky for drug money. Covington pleaded guilty to first-degree murder to avoid the death penalty and was sentenced to life imprisonment. Fetterman cast his vote over the pleas of Rudnycky’s family members, who opposed Covington's release at the killer’s commutation hearing.

Warnock raises $240,000 from Big Pharma execs despite calls to lower drug costs

Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) has raised more than $240,000 in campaign donations from Big Pharma executives and employees over the current midterm election cycle despite calls to lower prescription drug prices.

Warnock has received at least $240,364 from individuals who work for health companies, making him the third-largest beneficiary of money from the pharmaceutical sector, according to fundraising data compiled by OpenSecrets. Despite accepting contributions from pharmaceutical executives, Warnock has spent much of his campaign decrying Big Pharma companies and calling for lower prescription drug costs.

The Georgia Democrat has also previously criticized former opponents for accepting similar contributions, blaming high drug prices on Big Pharma donations to “Washington insiders like Kelly Loeffler.”

More than a third of the pharmaceutical donations came from executives and employees at Pfizer, Merck, and Novartis, according to campaign finance data from the Federal Election Commission. Warnock has also accepted contributions from Eli Lilly, Sanofi, and Novo Nordisk — three of the largest insulin manufacturers in the world.

I know, polls are meaningless, etc. But the numbers here of late are not looking good for the GOP in the Senate. Long way to go, of course, but interesting numbers, especially out of Florida.

Shocking video shows Democratic Senate candidate Val Demmings' security guards Shoving a Cameraman to the Ground for trying to film her

Security guards for Florida Democratic Senate hopeful, Rep. Val Demmings, appear to have pushed a man to the ground at a campaign event earlier this month.

FloridaPolitics.com reported Tuesday on the incident, sharing two videos of the encounter, which the site said the Brevard County Sheriff's Office is investigating.

The videos were later shared by a spokesperson for Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, who Demmings hopes to replace.

The individual appeared to be a campaign 'tracker,' a person hired by the opposing political campaign or party to follow a candidate and film them, in case they make a gaffe, which can be used to the rival's advantage.

Democratic Rep. Val Demmings is running for her party's nomination for U.S. Senate in next week's Florida primary and is largely expected to win. She'll be on the ballot against GOP Sen. Marco Rubio in November

The security guards appear to be employees of Ardent Protection, the website said.

A shorter clip shows the initial encounter, with black-clad security guards pushing the man down as he protests: 'what the f*** are you all doing?'

They order him to stay down.

In a second, longer clip, one security guard is heard boasting, 'In corrections I used to balance people like you off their head in the jail.'

Red Skull is going to take a hit to his agenda to undermine America come November.

What’s amazing is the Rs probably could have taken a seat in GA and maybe PA had they nominated someone even halfway decent.
I had honestly thought Walker had a better chance in Georgia, but not anymore. Although I did tell someone the other day I think Walker's chances improve if Georgia is undefeated come election day.

You have to wonder what is going on in Florida for Rubio to be trailing? They came through with flying colors basically being the opposite of everything Democrats stood for and people want Democrats in charge? I honestly do not get it...

Although I do think overturning Roe is playing a part in this. It fired up Democrats who were decidedly lacking in excitement and energy.

Rubio just doesn't motivate anyone, he's a faux conservative that people easily see through. A Bushesque candidate.

He's a far less likable and established then W. Those tentacles ran deep into the party establishment.

I haven't but Dems are always easier to motivate than Rs and then you have the "middle". All you have to do is promise them free chit to get their vote.

We'll have to see. Not quite ready to admit you're right on these races, but you know I've moved closer to your position on it. Three months ago, I was thinking the Rs would pick up five to six seats. Hell, now they may lose two or three.

Trump-backed candidates may have won primaries against people he didn't like, but they are not going to be useful to anyone if they lose the general elections.

Election day is after the game. So according to some prognisticators, Walker is a dead man walking.

It's Southern Football Sociology.

How have we fallen to this? Walker or Warnack, Oz and whoever. At least dip your toe in the waters in the House. The Senate used to be a higher chamber not anymore.

Trump has taken over the party. It may take losing the Senate (again, because I think the Rs had good chance of winning it) to finally wake people up and move on from him and the circus that surrounds him.

If the Ds gain two more seats, they can override Manchin and Sinema's votes to keep the filibuster in place. If that happens, it will be bad. Very, very bad.
