I think the NFL will be more interested in the claims of owners paying a head coach to throw games than claims of racism.

The Rooney Rule is a poor policy with good intentions. Unless there’s email or proof of someone not hiring him because he’s black I don’t see how it can realistically go anywhere.

Ownership throwing games? That risks damaging the NFL brand. Especially with their recent gambling partnerships.
What needs to happen is for a black billionaire to step into the "ownership club" and be at the table for discussions that are probably frank and brutal about the underside of the NFL. Unfortunately there are less than 10 black billionaires in America out of the 700+/- billionaires in America.

It would be good for football if a group of black businessmen took the initiative to buy their way into the NFL as owners and could generate and participate in conversation at the highest level about these issues without lawsuits.

If he wins then I hopes he has more than a couple of Belichick texts.

But I'm still not seeing a grand conspiracy of wrongdoing. Let's assume the Giants knew they wanted Daboll after they brought him in for a 2nd interview. How is that illegal, wrong, against the rules or whatever it should be called? They held interviews with 3 more candidates after Daboll's 2nd interview.

Nobody said it's a conspiracy or illegal. Some of you guys keep trying to hold it to a standard that isn't being alleged.

They can't start canceling interviews because they found their guy, right? That would indicate they already made their decision, which they can't indicate for completely obvious reasons....

So they can’t make a decision before it’s allowed.

They can do whatever they want, but if they get caught treating Flores like a pawn because of his skin color, then that is obviously problematic.

Lot of interpretation involved for a legal matter.
Exactly. I can’t say one way or the other as far as racism being involved and IMO it will be hard to prove without concrete evidence like Gruden type emails, but as a Dolphins fan, I really believe the “differing views” that caused Ross to fire Flores, was because the guy quit tanking and started coaching to win.
We should’ve kept Flores and cancelled Ross!😜
GBO!!

The Miami Dolphins have hired 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel as their head coach. He qualifies as a minority 'cause he's biracial but he looks as white as can be. In fact...

He's so white Deadspin said don't hire him:

On Saturday, Deadspin staff writer Sean Beckwith took aim at the offensive coordinator in a piece with the headline, "Sure, Mike McDaniel seems cool, but he’s not worthy of a head coaching gig yet," cautioning readers, "Please stop and think before you inadvertently dub another young, white guy as the next hot NFL coaching prospect."

"Be careful what you tweet for, people of the online realm," Beckwith began. "Mike McDaniel, the San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator who has gone viral for his ‘adorable’ news conferences featuring references to Mike Jones and engaging answers, is ticking off all the boxes to be the next trendy, young, white guy who takes a head coaching position before one of the many deserving Black candidates."

Deadspin updates Mike McDaniel hit piece after knocking biracial 49ers coach as 'another young, white guy'

I don't know this guy's ancestry but my guess is he's more white than black. I'm troubled that the NFL in their quest to help out minorities, are actually supporting the One Drop Rule which was instituted by racists a long time ago.

That aside, let's see how he can coach

You're goofy. His dad's blacker than your wildest dreams.

Because your “guess” is goofy. When you have no idea, go with that.
It's not goofy to look at him and see "white man". That's my point. I don't think he faces any racial discrimination based upon his skin color

The Texans are starting to get in the realm of “worst run sports franchise”

This has to be a joke, no way they hire Lovie Smith. He went 8-24 at Tampa Bay, last time he was an NFL HC.

Does that make him less black? Kinda red-necky there C-Ray! 😉

He's no more black than white. Nothing redneck about that. Just a fact
Dad’s fully black…fact. Kinda racist for you to need every candidate to look like Yaphet Kotto to count.

“It is surreal when I think about it, but I remember one particular day, walking around and all of a sudden noticing that, ‘Hey, I’m the only fair-skinned person in all these picture frames,’” McDaniel said. “My grandmother on my dad’s side is Black. My dad’s Black.

Information on this guy's ancestry is tough to find but it's a story because the NFL treats people of color differently, in the form of extra draft picks etc, but it appears from the wording of the above article that he only has one black grandparent. Yet that's enough for the NFL to consider him a minority. This gets back to the racist "One Drop Rule".

Why football is more than just a sport to 49ers OC McDaniel

If he's fully black why did McDaniel say his grandmother is black? Sure gives the impression that his grandfather was not. My point is, what percentage black is needed? Knock off the racist accusations

He met his grandmother. Grandfather is deceased. Black ancestry on his father’s side. So 50/50 at worst. Gonna have to suffice for you. 😎

Regardless of whether his grandfather is alive or dead, he has a race. You've presented nothing to support your claims. If his grandfather is also black, show me the evidence
