2022 NFL Offseason Thread

I have to disagree. I think they gave up way too much. Wilson is good, but not that good.

Did you see what the 49ers gave up for Trey Lance? Three 1sts and a 3rd. The market for QB's is crazy.

Did you see the price they were talking about for Rodgers last summer? They were talking about two 1sts + Surtain + Patrick + Lock. I thought we'd be in that ballpark for Wilson. Fant isn't as good as Patrick and Surtain is worth way more than two 2nds and a 5th, and they get a 4th back on top of that.

Based on the above, it is a good deal. But, the above is also way too much as well.

The QB market is beyond crazy.

I just lost in the dynasty fantasy championship. I have everybody coming back, including Javonte Williams, Jerry Jeudy, and Courtland Sutton, whose fantasy value just increased 33%. If I don't win next year, I may swear off fantasy forever. 12 keepers:

Burrow
Tee Higgins
Kupp
Kamara
D Cook
Freierumuth

Tyler Boyd
Singletary
Rhamondre Stevenson
And the Broncos

HTF did I lose with Burrow, Kupp, Kamara, and Cook healthy down the stretch? Unbelievable.

I just hate his personality. He seems like there is no depth to him. He's the king of cliches. He's just a try-hard. Pretending to be in a huddle and calling imaginary plays for the cameras was unforgivable to me.
His personality reminds me of that of a corporate shill - somebody involved in sales, recruiting, or HR for some kind of soulless mega-corporation. Everything he says sounds like a pre-screened talking point that a handler wrote. I have never heard him say anything remotely insightful or interesting. You know there has to be some genuine personality there; he got Ciara to marry him and you know she isn't with him for his money, but I just think he's made a decision to never show it publicly.

On one hand, I do get it - he doesn't want to say anything controversial. However, you can be interesting/entertaining and avoid controversy (see the Mannings).

Wow that is almost as big as the cowboys/Vikings hershel walker trade except think the cowboys got an additional 1st and 2nd pick.
As a Broncos fan afraid this is too much. On the other hand the Broncos have been to 8 Super Bowls and none of them had a qb that the Broncos drafted start. Also glad to be rid of drew lock. The job Heupel did turning him into a 2nd round draft pick at Missouri is remarkable.

If you hear him mic'd up, it's just a bunch of:

"let's go!"

"4 quarters guys. It's a 4 quarter game."

You can mic up just about any QB and they're going to be getting laughs from teammates or talking ****, or something interesting. You get nothing out of Wilson. It's worse than the sideline reporter interviews of NBA coaches.

Derek Carr has come much too far to still be the worst QB in the AFC West.

A good QB is the price to play in the playoffs. Without this trade the Broncos sit at sub .500 for the next decade. Good trade.

Bill Simmons was talking about the Russell Wilson news hitting 20 minutes after the Rodgers reports and totally over-shadowing him, and then this tweet ^ was his attempt to get the limelight back.

Yeah, dude. We know that when it's reported you "agreed" to a contract that it doesn't mean you "signed", but thanks for the clarification.

I have yet to find someone say the Broncos didn't win in the trade. Plenty saying it was a win/win, but not everybody thinks Seattle won.

Someone pointed out that Seattle traded two 1sts for Jamal Adams, and Wilson's only worth two 2nds + Fant more than Adams? Doesn't seem right.

Teams that haven't gone through QB hell in a while don't understand how bad it is. You can do everything else right, but without an above average QB, you will struggle to win.

Broncos didn't give up too much, they have Wilson on a decent contract for 2 years, but still I'm not that happy. I can't believe I have to root for him. At least it will be fun to blame him for everything that goes wrong.

I mean, 2 first round picks and 2 second round picks is still a lot to give up. That’s pretty much no Day 1 and Day 2 picks for the next 2 drafts.

Yeah, but it's not a lot relative to the market. Like I said, Jamal Adams was two 1sts and he's just a run-stopping safety. He's really good at that, but the point is he's nowhere near a top tier QB's value, and the difference between them was two 2nds and Fant

Can I name them?

Peyton Manning
Brock Osweiler
Trevor Semian
Case Keenum
Joe Flacco
Teddy Bridgewater
Drew Lock
Paxton Lynch

And then Wilson next year. That is ^ one too many, so I've got somebody wrong.
