2021 Fall Practice #6

That would be a big improvement.

Yep. If we could take the best attributes of each we would have a killer taking snaps. As it is, I don't think our output would change dramatically no matter who is taking snaps.

I never understood the mentality of "pulling" for one QB to win the job over another. I'm for whoever wins the job, period. I could not care less who it is. Unless you've waged a bet with someone, why should you care if it's one particular guy over another.

Well, I want the best QB to play. That said, it's better for us if the best QB is also the youngest, because that puts our program on a better medium term trajectory.

No he did not say that, most think sometime next week after the second live scrimmage next tuesday. Now they did say they there is a chance it could go on but the thought at that time was sometime at the end of next week. GBO!
Golesh said he’d like to get down to 1-2 after 1 1/2 weeks to limit reps, so yea, basically after the 2d scrimmage

Nah, I’d like to go the AL route where we have veteran QBs starting, Jr or Sr with guys willing to wait their turn behind. Just like Mac did last year

My opinion on Maurer is, and this is opinion. No facts behind it. He has the arm and athletic ability to be SEC caliber but just look at his body. He hasnt added muscle or improved anything about his body makeup in 3 years of being in a top notch program. He looks skinny fat. That makes me think he doesn't put in the extra work required and is relying on his natural ability like he did in high school. He makes me think of the back up QB from the Blue Mountain State TV Series
He said in his interview he put in 15 pounds this year. He definitely looks bigger (look at his neck). His biggest problem is reading defense, decision making that leads to panic

every loss was by double digits. I'm not sure "serviceable" is worth 14 points. Good is, but not average.
his play severely hurt the team as a whole, especially the defense. Our defense would look great in the 1st half but wouldn’t okay hard after JG routinely failed

I still cant wrap my head around how we were cheating THAT MUCH....and still losing by double digits to Kentucky. lol.
****** HC that the staff hated playing for + a terrible QB that sucked the life out of the team.

I was in the military for 25 years and it took me awhile to realize just how important the Commanders were. Doesn’t seem like they do much and ultimately the workers get it done. However, when I worked in a unit with a bad Commander our unit sucked and vice versa. They set the tone for everyone.

I get that, I understand but what makes you feel that way given this kids stats are not all that good. Physical make up ? Strong arm ? He does not run that effectively either. Mind you these stats are from the Big Ten
This staff brought him in, they rave about him. That’s all I need to know until I see it.

Also, Harbaugh sucks developing all his QBs. Even Golesh took a jab at how he was used. Finally, he was injured and that’s when he started performing the worst

You do realize Harbaugh recruited and developed Andrew Luck right ? So I would not say all.

I prefer who gives us the best chance to win. Who are we to think we know better than Huepel who that is?
We don't. We are having some fun poking at each other and having fun with it. We may disagree on who we think should start at the end of the day whoever the coaches choose we should as fans support. Maybe all will play until they settle it on the field where it matters.

I don't think any of the QBs will be much better than mid-tier SEC quality.
That will be hard to measure in a pure sense. The system is designed to help QB's.

But again, if a supposed QB guru cannot get one of these guys to be an upper tier SEC quality QB... then there's a pretty big problem. There is tremendous talent in that room. All have the potential to be much better than a "mid-tier SEC quality" QB.

I will post this again as I posted it in yesterday's practice thread without any discussion.

So I have a theory on the QB selection process the coaches are using. With basically about 4 weeks from start of practice to the first game, you can "drop" 1 QB per week of competition before the first game. So week 1, all 4 compete, week 2 down to 3, then week 3 down to 2 and finally week 4, game prep week is down to 1 your starter. With BM's tweet I think he was told he was out.

Wow, you couldn’t be more wrong. I actually straight up said, “Milton may be the guy in the end. However, good practice didn’t prove as successful on the field before. We’ll see.”
dude no need to be condescending. I apologize.

I'm sorry LittleVol but the dude got benched playing the Rutgers to have his back up come in and throw for 260 and lead a comeback to win in overtime. Sorry I am not impressed that he's 6'5 245 pounds with a rocket arm and completes 56% of his attempts. He also threw the ball to the other team, that did not helo win games.Sorry he ran for a total of 108 yards in the 6 games he played and started most of them. I just do not see the greatness some of you see. I understand Michigan was terrible. Milton left because the other kid won the job. I respect he is here to compete and will leave it to the coaches. He has a shot, lets see what happens but it was a failed experiment at UM.
fair enough

Probably pretty accurate, even if it's just coincidence. After next Tuesday I think they will definitely be down to 2, and possibly even have their guy.

Just win baby,
I don't care if the best qb is Jim bob cooter, the water boy, whoever, doesn't matter. Just give this team a chance.

I think Heupel could develop them to mid-tier. There is talent but I don't see a complete solution yet.

Not really seen anyone profess to know better than Heupel. Seen a **** ton of people state they want “whoever gives us the best chance to win”. One doesn’t cancel out the other. It gets tiresome reading how some perceptions are based on “facts” when it’s all personal opinion. If I couldn’t handle that part, I wouldn’t be on this board.

I keep reading how inaccurate Milton is/was, but I thought he looked real good in those clips!

Nobody is 100% accurate. The trick is for him to continue to get comfortable in this offensive scheme and work on adding some touch to his passes when needed. If he's the starter, he'll have no problem zipping the ball into tight spots when necessary.
