2019 Vols Basketball #21 Recruiting Class in the Nation!

Whoa, whoa, whoa..."Memphis almost beat us last year??" I was at that game, 30 yards from the floor, and Memphis (my alma mater) was never even close to being in it. We dogged them pretty much the entire game. Yeah, they made a couple of small, brief runs until our guys woke up and shut them down every time. It was disciplined, team basketball vs. individualistic street ball. Never close.

57 points in the second half was a small brief run?

@OrangeSoddyDaisy has turned heel, just like his avatar did dozens of times

In all seriousness, he is not 100% wrong about Penny. He's cheating his ass off but Memphis is going to be really good next year.....

Not sure why he'd cheat. He has absolutely nothing to gain by cheating. He is at his dream job (ignoring the NBA part) and is a multimillionaire with a net worth nearly double Calipari and Barnes COMBINED, and he'll make more this year on tennis shoes alone than both them will make combined this year.

Today's valid basketball players want to be in the NBA and they want to be Penny Hardaway. Do they look at a failed NBA coach or one who can't get a job as an assistant in the NBA, or do they look at a coach who was one of the greatest ever to play who only wants his hometown school back in basketball prominence again?

Which we all know is incredibly accurate at this point in the preseason. Certainly qualifies as a lock for....something.. ;)

To maintain context, I was just responding to the dude that said MSU lost 80% of their top 5 scorers, top 3 rebounders and top assist man.

Can't control my compulsions when someone who doesn't follow the sport posts.

Lol. Penny got Wiseman ruled ineligible in high school because of illegal recruiting.

He got an unprecedented class by beating schools that cheat, but surely he didn't cheat.

Of course he does. He's not getting all these five stars by his coaching acumen.

We can be better than this.

As soon as we start getting outclassed by a fellow in-state institution, we cry foul? It's a bad look for Vols fans but unfortunately prevalent and predictable. When things start looking imperfect, we blame someone else. I see over and over again.

Shameful. Absolute crying shameful.

I'm not crying foul. I think we should cheat like Penny cheats. LSU had a good time last year with zero consequences.

Go to the Memphis (State) board. You are a fan of the high school in West Tennessee and get your jingles antagonizing. I don't think anyone here believes you're a Tennessee fan.
You have been good for a bunch of laughs, though. Go away!

A new record!

Exposed in less than 6 pages. You guys are smarter than the football posters.

In all truthfulness though, I have 9 years worth of UT education and am one of 12 in my immediate family with UT degrees. I am a realist though. UT Basketball flares up every now and then and I enjoy it when it does. Memphis Basketball does poorly every now and then. Football is another story, but we have to admit Knoxville is not a basketball town, Memphis is. I do think it is silly to say Memphis is cheating though. No evidence and no one else in America is making that allegation. Makes one look jealous instead of knowledgeable. Post some valid information if there is any to the contrary.

I’ll interject.

It’s not like Memphy is getting a Zion. Let’s pump the brakes a bit.

Also, Memphis was completely outclassed by UT last year. We completely had our way with them offensively, even though they tried to junk it up. Our kids shined that day.

Yep.

Probably the best game we played all year. You got to remember, though, they had a bunch of Freshmen and no-name veterans with no NBA looks put 57 points on us the second half, with a first year coach. They missed 11 straight shots in the paint the first 8 minutes of the game and went another 6 without scoring a basket.

I'm not so sure we beat them so much as they beat themselves.

Boy you guys sure seem to believe in this roster.

I hope they surprise me but we have to remember we're a below average program historically and we just lost our 3 best players.

Our starting 5 right now looks to be James,Turner,Bowden,Fulkerson, and Burns with Johnson,Pons, and Kent as our top backups.

If that team wins 20 Rick Barnes will have earned his 5 million.

Meanwhile Memphis is recruiting like Kentucky...
