2018 Midterm Election Thread

I'm sure there are...but not any who were also just arrested for providing inside information to a family member.
Many of them hire their family to work in their campaigns and then pay them big bucks to do so from campaign donations. Not illegal but highly unethical.

If I am not mistaken, the burden of proof it to show that Collins benefited personally.

Insider trading cases are very difficult to prove. I bet he's found not guilty, especially because he's a politician.

It's a problem. Came up for a vote several years ago. Can't remember which party controlled but it was parliamentary procedures off the agenda. Surprise.

I don't think the FBI arrests you unless they've got a slam dunk case.

Dude's going to jail, probably with some of his family members in tow.

How long before DJT tweets that he barely knew who Collins was?

Saw that he was the first member of the house to come out in support of Trump for president.

He was also a member of Donny's transition team.

Thus far pleading or charged:
  • Trump's 1st campaign manager (battery charges later dropped)
  • Trump's 2nd campaign manager
  • Trump's deputy campaign manager
  • Trump's national security adviser
  • Trump's foreign policy adviser
  • Trump's 1st congressional endorser/member transition team
  • Crooked Hillary

There is no personal benefit requirement.

Federal securities-fraud statutes don't specifically mention insider trading, but in 1983 the Supreme Court said prosecutions could be based on an insider's breach of a duty to the company's shareholders. The ruling, known as Dirks v. SEC, said the insider had to receive a "personal benefit" from the disclosure.

Media is very quiet today. They were poised to beat the war drums after the election results last night. Once they came it it was crickets. Can you imagine how they would have responded if the Dims had won? We would be hearing about the blue wall all day and into the night. So disappointing from them but hey, they still have Pelosi and Waters!
