Seems too many people want to make things black and white. Hurd is not a dog and Butch is not an idiot. But by the same token neither is perfect. Imagine that, I don’t know anyone who is.

The truth is we will never know the details of the story for either. I can imagine neither had things just as they wanted.

Name calling is a childish way of casting a person in the image you desire with out having to build an argument that will stand under scrutiny.

I am not to going to complain about the signing of the this QB. He either has talent or is the best we can do. In either case time will tell. For all we know he may never sign with TN.

Joke right? Hurd out rushed Amsler by 2,000 yards

I've found some of the more ridiculous posts in this thread. The Vols have had some very good backs over the years, including Hurd. Hurd may have had one of the worst lines and dumbest offenses/play callers of all the good backs at UT over the years.

He got all those yards because he had so many freaking carries.

Kamara should have started over Hurd because he was clearly the better back.

I think most reasonably football savvy folks out there realize Hurd was not put in the best situations to succeed given his particular skill set. It's also unfortunate for him that he played behind a bad o line, never had a qb that was much of a downfield threat with his arm. That his qb was a bigger run threat than he was. That he was in an offensive system that really didn't fit his style. And that coaches didn't figure out how to use him and kamara properly.


I think knowing what we know about butch then and now, it'd be easier on everyone...,,,

He did quit. He did have that play against UGA in 15.

And that sucks. For us all. He ran tough. Had to get dirty yards that weren't pretty. And it ended badly for all involved.

Hope he does well at Baylor.

And I hope we do better. He moved on, we should too...probably.

The move that still boggles my mind is you get a all American back that is exactly what this scheme calls for and you go with a back that is talented yet not in this scheme and you start the latter... no idea what the thought process was. Also, to put the cherry on top I have some interesting details of who Hurd was in his entirety (which getting benched in GA should tell you a lot about that) but then you have a coach that isn’t as bad but wasn’t great. I kinda think that sums up the stint of his coaching years here.
