'19 CA QB JT Daniels (Georgia commit)

Would I be happy with 8 - 9 this year? Yes. The fact is that appears to be JG's ceiling and that is a problem in and of itself. Falling short would mean around 7 wins.

I want the QB to have a ceiling of championship. Falling short is about 9 wins in that case.
This win ceiling stuff is ridiculous and impossible to project. Football is the ultimate team sport and it takes all phases of the game to be working in order to win championships. Injuries, schedule and luck play a big role as well. JG has not proven to be a championship QB at this point and time but that's really all he hasn't accomplished. Nobody wins at QB his 1st 2 years playing. If you or anyone can show me a team in the SEC that has ever won 9 or 10 games with the worst OLs and DLs in the conference I'll change my opinion. He took a beating on those two teams, took more than his fair share of criticism and never wavered, all he did was work and stayed quiet. Last year's overall roster was better, we struggled early for several team reasons and finished strong. So his 1st year that we had middle of the pack SEC talent we won 8 games. Other than the neverJG hyperbole there is no reason to believe that with his experience, his toughness and his arm talent combined with top tier SEC talent across the roster that the Vols can easily improve on their win total from last season with JG as the starter. We've got a better chance to win at Ok with a veteran than any new and inexperienced QB I feel. An experienced team means everything at the college level, at any level of any sport really.

well I know your judgment is clouded with hate for a VFL and you don’t trust Pruitt to play the right guy but the stats really aren’t as you say

JG was 4th in the SEC last year in QBR
JG was 7th in passing completion percentage
JG was 6th in TDs thrown
JG was 3rd in yards per attempt.

All that with a career TD/INT ration of 32/13. Not bad at all and that’s why the floor next year with him being out QB is higher than with anyone else. At worst 7 wins is virtually a lock with him playing QB imo.

So yea he’s beating out more than vandy and Kentucky my man.

QBR is misleading for sure probably the biggest overblown stat as to why JG fans like you think he will get drafted and he won’t what so ever!..lol regarding Pass completion percentage yea! That’s going to look appealing when you don’t throw past the sticks so I hope he can make a screen pass.6th in touchdowns thrown I hope he thanked Calloway and JJ for the yards after the catch to get those touchdowns! Yards per attempt follows by actually attempting a pass which he didn’t do much so less attempts makes his average looks better lol he’s averaging like 7 almost 8 yards which is S*** all I’m saying Bruin is he’s so bad you could come in and take his starting job from him as fan we need open try outs of he’s starter this year lol

Lol

You can’t use that explanation for a solid completion % when his yards per attempt was 3rd in the SEC.

I’ll help you out a lot. Try this it’s more intelligent.

JGs stats paint a picture of a solid SEC QB that is getting better BUT when you watch him play the stats sure can be misleading.

I was making a point to all of you that continue to debate JG, take it as you want, in the FF. It’ll be appreciated over there, what’s one more, eh?
I think it's being posted here because some fans think it's ridiculous to bring in another QB into an already crowded QB room onto an already over the limit roster this late into the process and expect him to be successful as our starting QB when 2 of our 1st 4 games are against 2 of the best teams in the country. Some think it's ridiculous to make this argument over a kid that has almost 0 chance to be eligible this season. Maybe the FF is where it should be but surely you have seen threads take a life of it's own. I don't think it will ever matter as I don't think we're even offering him. My opinion is that Pruitt is probably extremely happy with the current QB position and it's future.

YPA is true, but one can also look at Average Depth of Target. Only 2 sec starters targeted it further downfield than JG last year. The myth of him checking it down all the time is just that.

Nearly every single thing you just stated is dead wrong. You think our WRs were great with YAC, what a joke. The Alabama, LSU, Fl guys, I'm guessing their yac thumps our WRs pretty good. Hats off to Jennings and Calloway for being good college players but my opinion is that neither were championship quality wideouts like we've had in the past.

Just sick of seeing the same debate. If I wanted to, I could find it in the multiple threads devoted to it and other threads, that have been derailed because of it. That’s the end of my discussion on it because I refuse to contribute to it.

Bye then, it's really that simple.

2 questions....how do you add him when we are already over roster limits and why do you add him if he's not going to be eligible to play this year?

1. You ask someone to leave if we are still over before the deadline.

2. Having a 5* qb in 21 is still a great thing. Of course you’d want him even if he has to sit

Keep dreaming. I don't come on here and bash the young man every day but we don't lose to Georgia State or BYU with decent QB play. The bowl game should've been a blowout the way we played defense early. The Vandy game was a precursor.

What do you do with Bailey, BM and the other big time QBs you're offering in the next few classes? I don't think we go after him because I believe Pruitt has worked the QB position perfectly. JG/HB/BM this year, HB/whoever is left the next 2 years and then either the Simpson kid at Jackson or Tee's son or the big kid we're currently trying to get. I just don't see Pruitt adding anymore QBs to this or next season's roster.

Why should the bowl game had been a blowout? Pretty sure Vegas had it being a one possession game. 2 of our best defenders in Bituli and Thompson were out the 1st 2 games. We were playing Sapp and Ignont who apparently didn't want to be here, we had just lost our best DL at the time in preseason and had a Fr CB playing that could have been nicknamed toast this past year, I think those are the reasons why GA State shredded our defense and their QB played lights out, our offensive strategy that game was blah as well. I thought we played pretty good vs BYU except for about 3 plays. You've yet to explain to me how another QB would have won football games his 1st 2 years playing.

Even had we won those 1st 2 games and finished with 10 wins exactly how the season finished I believe you'd still moan about JG for some reason or the other.

You won't like this, but he was a small hope of someone replacing the erratic JG
I think once JG declared he was all orange and wasn't going to transfer, the fact that Coach Pruitt said "why would he transfer" and didn't persuade him to leave made it clear that JG was going to be used this upcoming season. I contend that we'll know just how much by halftime of the OK game.

Yep

I think Pruitt would have told him to move on
