'18 SC punter Skylar Delong

With punter JK Scott leaving after the coming season, this is an important get for the Tide. Field position is a strong part of what it's all about and a great punter can flip field position as sudden as anyone on the team.

A punter can flip field position? Learn something every day.

Let's be honest. If kicking specialists get an offer at a major school, they are almost have to commit on the spot. He probably committed to UT, but really wanted the Bama offer, but knew that if he didn't commit to UT, and didn't get the Bama offer, he'd lose on both accounts.

One thing Butch has done well is develop a quality punter during his time at UT.

The VOLS will be okay. Didn't a top-level punter walk-on to UT in this incoming class?

Let's not let this distract us from the fact that Pitino got 5 games while Bruce Pearl got a 3 year show cause!!!!!!!!

Smokescreen imo

Why didn't y'all get the kid from Hoover who committed to Nebraska. Not trying to needle. That just seemed like a no brainer.

Bama has been on a few of them including the kid out of Norcross Georgia. Coach Saban ask to see them all at camp, that's the deal and I suppose Saban saw what he needed to.

Not justifying the severity of Pearls punishment, but he lied to the NCAA investigators, was a repeat offender of the original violation from his time at Milwaukee, and committed additional secondary violations while being investigated.

To my knowledge, Pitino was forthcoming from the start. Now, the difference may have simply been that both lied, and Pitino just continued with his lie while Bruce fessed up under pressure.

It sucks, but let's not lose sight of the fact that in 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.

Moving on. Will we seek out another punter for this class or was that it? I watched the video on the next best uncommitted guy on Rivals and it looked like he runs to his right as a windup on every punt, usually giving defenders a chance to get really close. Not sure how that would work out at SEC level.

LSU had an Australian punter that did the same thing. I never saw him get one blocked, but I didn't watch every minute of every LSU game, neither
