That's sort of my point. Worley was not athletic enough to be successful in this offense with that line where Dobbs was is. I realize the line has improved but when the lines were similar Dobbs was able to make plays with his legs where Worley wasn't.
Back when Worley was running the show, everybody was complaining that he would never keep it making the ZR impotent because there was no threat of the qb keeping it. Everyone was saying Worley was scared to keep it when later it came out the coaches would never let him keep it. I remember in the GA game he did keep it and nobody in North America expected it and it went for big yardage.
I think we are seeing Butch's offense exactly the way he wants it. He wants to run it first and throw in some little dinks and dunks here and there. Maybe he'd like to throw it down field a little more but for reasons that have been debated here to the death he hasn't yet. Maybe this year?
I still don't think a pro-style, pocket passer fits this offense. I don't begrudge TL going to GA for this reason. JG on the other hand makes me question his decision making ability. All JMO.
Right, but if Worley had the current line, the coaches might have the luxury of allowing him to play to his strengths. Don't get me wrong, you're right this offense is better suited with a DT. I just don't think we can look at the situation with Worley as evidence that Butch would not adjust the offense to play to the strengths of a pocket passer.
When Worley was here, he could not sit in the pocket because line couldn't hold. However, he wasn't athletic enough to make up for the line's shortcomings (where Dobbs was/is) with his legs. That's why I believe we saw the restrictions in his allowance to keep in ZR (as you pointed out). But we can't say definetly the offense could not be adjusted where the line would allow for it to be because that situation has yet to happen. We haven't had a PP and a good line under Butch yet.
