'15 NM QB Zach Gentry

We need Gentry to commit at the Orange & White game. That would get the attention of any players in the class of 2015 that are considering Tennessee. Then those players that are committed could start recruiting other players to help their class be better than the 2014 class that was just signed. The horizon could be bright for Tennessee Football if we could put together two great back to back classes!

Just watch his tape for the first time. Wow! He has some wheels for a big guy and a big arm. My favorite for the 15' QB.

Landing Gentry would be a huge boost to the class for sure. I have no doubt the current commitments are recruiting their tails off for UT right now. I think the 2015 class will be in the top 8-10 come NSD.

With only 18-20 commitments? I do not know about that.

I hope we sign this guy as our QB for this class. I hope we only sign him and not 2 QBs. I really believe that if we sign 16 QB Austin kendall I think he will be the future at Tennessee. Really love his film.

I agree on Kendall, he's elite for sure, but isn't he supposedly a UGA lock if they want him? UGA fans sure seem to think so.

A Gentry commit at the O&W game will have the same impact as the Hurd commit. It will get the ball rolling and we will see the class fill fairly quickly. CBJ will find a way to at least get 22 and maybe even 25 for 2014. The 2014 QB class will be Gentry and Tiano. If not Tiano, the 2nd QB could be the kid out of FL. Not sure about his name.

If they land Gentry I see no reason to take 2 QB's in this class. Get him in '15 and hopefully a big-time guy in the '16 class.

Agree. If Gentry commits then there is no reason to use another schlocky for another QB. I really think Gentry has the potential to be a special QB. I hope we get him.

With Gentry there's no room for Tiano except as a pw. If I went with a 2nd QB it would be Jennings.

VN has spoken - Gentry it is. Make it happen Butch.

I agree with others on here, if it happens I am fine with taking no more until the 16 class.

Williams?

UT offered him a while ago. Put up huge stats last year vs questionable competition. Apparently he has moved to NC to play against better talent. Kid has shown little to no interest to any other schools. After he got the UT offer, he said it did not matter who recruited him, he was "all UT". I could be wrong but I think he may already be onboard.

If he does not get any other offers, "I'm all UT" could also mean he was willing to walk-on. IMO throwing for 4000-5000 yards vs any competition will get you offers from some schools. We'll see how it goes.

I think Rivals only counts the top 20 commitments anyway. IF we don't get to 20, it could be closer to top 15.

Rivals does in fact only count the top 20 from each team. But even if we were only to bring in 18, I think the level of recruits we will sign would still produce a top 10 class. Probably somewhere in the #8 - #10 range.

Even if we sign 20, we would have to land 2-3 5* kids to be in the top 10. I know the Rivals 5* rankings will change as the year goes on but as of now, we are not a major player for any of them IMO. Looking at the schools in the top 15 who signed 20-21, they each had several 5*'s.

Unless we land a handful of 5* we likely wont be ranked that high. We already have a handful of 3*s and Lovingood will likely end up a 2* since he is a LS. And Dews will likely end up not counting toward our class since he is a GS. Similar to D. Mixon this past class.

Yeah. I almost added that Lovingood would bring the average down, but did not want to make it seem like I was down on the kid. He's at a position we need. I could see guys like Woods and Stewart who committed and shut it down early staying at 3 stars. I'm leaning toward top 15 would be a success considering the numbers and current commitments.

It does make for another discussion though. I wonder why say a LS, or a Punter, or a Kicker who is the best of the best not a 5 star? Is the best K in the country less of a need or impact than a DE? You would think if your rated top 5 at ANY position, it should warrant at least a 4 star ranking.

If you compare this class to the 2013 recruiting class, we will do a lot better on team ranking. We didnt have many high ranked guys. That class finished 21st IIRC, so its gives us an idea of where we will be. My guess is 12-14

I was actually looking at the 2012 class. That class was 21 deep. No 5*s, 10 4*s, and 2 2*s. It ended up ranked 17th.

12-14 may be pretty close.
