'15 NM QB Zach Gentry

How many QBs have they ran off? I know a few kids transferred because of lack of PT. Star Jackson and Phillip Sims were backups at the schools they transferred to for the most part. Jackson was 3rd string at Georgia State. Phillip Ely is a wait and see. They didn't want Del Rio to leave.

Then maybe they should have given him a scholly.

No...they hadn't finished wasting his career yet

Maybe they should have. I really don't know when it was going to happen but I would have expected it to be soon since he was the 3rd string last year. He would have competed for the starting job but then again he might have known about Coker possibly coming in a long time ago which could have had some effect. Interesting part is that he is going to play for a former Bama player at Oregon St.

With the Raiders.

And you would have to add Crompton, who had a couple of teams sign him, and Matt Barkley.

Barkley yes but Crompton never made the final cut with any of the teams that signed him and was never on a 53 man active roster. I think he was on the Patriot's practice squad briefly but that hardly makes him an NFL QB. You could add Matt Cassel who was a backup to Leinert in '04 but it is a stretch to give Kiffin any credit for his time in the NFL.

You just made his point.

The recruiting guy from Saturday Down South thinks Gentry is a Top 5 most important recruit to UT this year...if we miss on Gibson and Lock.

Still don't really think he knows what he's talking about.

With the news that Gibson is playing WR for his HS this year, I don't think he should be a qb target at all. If you can't play QB for your HS, how in the H are you gonna do it at any college level?

Exactly, I would only take him as an athlete.

Just 2 weeks ago some here were sure he would be an SEC starting QB day 1 and would win at least 1 national title in the process.

"I'm going to talk to my dad a little more about it, but I think I'm going to try to get out to Tennessee for sure, and Oklahoma State. Those are some teams that offered me a while back that I'm interested in. I'm trying to figure it out, but want to try to get in three trips this spring. I think that's all we can do. Alabama is definitely a strong possibility for that."

"I think that with my style of play, I like to sit in the pocket and throw. I think that I can pull it down and run a little bit, so ideally I'd like to do that a little. I'd say I'm more of a pro-style quarterback who could run the zone read."

When do you plan to commit?

"I think for sure before this next season. Whether that's two months from now, or August, I'm not completely sure. I think that when it feels right, it feels right. It could be as early as May or as late as August I think."

Sounds like a Butch Jones QB to me.

Really hope this kid makes it to the spring game. If so, I think he'll commit soon after.

He would definitely be impressed! We will probably have the biggest turnout for a Spring game this year. Especially with us trying to break the largest attendance in UT history. If he comes, he will love it!
