Bro I'm 6'8 325 pounds 4% bodyfat.

Prove that I'm not.

Its a self-made claim. You think those media agencies issued a physical to test Dez Bryant's bodyfat before they printed that article? No, a delusional athlete made a claim and they ran an article on it because there is no way to disprove it. Wow...that gives it total credibility.

There are countless photos of Bryant online. If you believe that he is anywhere in any near 3% BF in any of those photos then you need to get your eyes checked. The bodybuilding counterargument works because that is a sport that revolves around the athletes being in ridiculously freakish physical condition. You clearly know nothing of bodybuilding which valiantly explains why you are so naive on this topic. The level of conditioning between a pro bodybuilder in contest shape (REAL 3-5% BF) and an athlete claiming to be in that range (FRAUD 3-5% BF) is significant. Go look at any picture, its not even close. You can not perform these ultra-physical sports (most namely football) at those levels of depletion. The body loses strength and stamina. I brought up the facial analysis because it is a huge tell-tale sign. Your body stores fat in the face...hence why overweight people have roundish chubby faces. At 3-5% BF you are talking a level of fat so low that you can outright SEE it in the facial features. Cheek bones are pronounced, you'll even see outlines around the jay. Here is another example:

Lost your credibility when you said UT uses calipers to measure BF. They don't and that's a fact.

To clear this up, just spoke to JH myself. He said he's at 5.4%, and says he's ridiculously lean and ripped. He says that he doesn't like it because he said he feels small, but we've all seen the pix, and we know the kid isn't small.

Take it anyway that your want to, but the kid's not a liar and has nothing to gain from telling me he's 2% or 10%.

From an actual medical professional:

ACE Fit | Fit Life | What are the guidelines for percentage of body fat loss?

The human body has a lot of variance, so I guess it's possible Hurd could be below 5%. It's just highly unlikely and probably unhealthy.

No it is not highly unlikely or likely unhealthy that he be below 5% - while not a high % of male adults are in that category a high percentage of those who are elite athletes and playing positions like RB, WR, corner, safety, etc are in that category or very close to it - not really uncommon at all for a speed type athlete that is a d1 elite type athletic talent

Thanks for clearing up the "controversy," even though it was completely stupid and ridiculous of others to question the info. Can't wait to watch Hurd truck fools.

Seeing how steam rollers have 0% body fat, I find JH's 5% slightly troubling. How is he supposed to roll people up in that kind of condition?

Thanks Vol74, your input is appreciated. A lot of people will still argue with a fence post about anything including fence posts.
Edit: VolNation should be happy that we have Jalen and not the opposition.

This has nothing to do with liking Hurd. It has to do with reality. Does everybody know what 5% body fat on Hurd means? It means he only has 12 pounds of fat on him. It takes excessive working out to the nth degree to get it that low on a 230-240 pound man.

I'm in the middle on this one. Hurd works out over an hour a day. I'm much smaller, measured out to 16%, and that's about what I do. I watch my diet also, but not like the people at UT watch Hurd. Hurd works out way more than I do, and he diets better also. Do you guys think its realistic?

Percentages are hard to look at in terms of units, but actual pounds of fat are not however. The question is does Hurd have <13 pounds of fat?

Yes I do. When I was 28 I was 5'7 115lbs and 5% body fat...naturally. I graduated high school 5'6 and 103lbs (I wrestled and maintained that weight comfortably). Mine had more to do with genetics and the fact that you don't get great danes out of chihuahuas ...although being in the military, doing PT, and eating decent contributed. I am now 41, 5'7 and 135lbs and not nearly as in shape due to a medical issue I sustained which had me MEB'd from the military after almost 21-yrs of service. So yes, I believe him.

Just curious why everyone is questioning this.

You are completely right. Unless he gets in a hydrostatic bf measurer, I'm going to be as sceptic as anyone. They probably measured with a caliper and those can be completely skewed by a number of things. Jalen Hurd is not 5% body fat. Professional body builders only stay at 5% or under for competition for a week max because it is extremely unhealthy. With that much muscle mass, unless he has the greatest genetics the world has ever seen or on steroids, he's not 5%.

The body fat conversation is close to developing sentience and then there will be no way to stop it! ...
