So Sparty is an idiot/troll in your opinion?
If that's the only glaring weakness in my argument for McGhee over Reese, then you have a long way to go to convince anyone with an objective mind that their profiles are remotely similar.
20 guys that the entire country are looking at and competing for.
We have 6 scholarships to give.
And Tyndall has about 15 minutes to recruit them. And just because you like them better doesn't mean he does.
And I call BS on 20 players available at his position you like better.
Similar offer lists, similar rankings?
So one averaged more points, Galen Campbell averaged 24ppg...is he scholarship worthy?
Don't answer that seniordrill.
I'm not going to pick a fight with Sparty. I think he's a good poster. I don't know what his stance is on certain players.
Here's what I'll say. If you think CCM's recruiting sucked because he signed Wes Washpun, well, you're a moron. Wes Washpun caliber guys is what you get when you sign 5 guys in April/May.
If you think his recruiting sucked because you think it sucked, I'm not going to argue.
I think it was average at best and I think I'm being kind.
I thought our coaches weren't supposed to bow down and be scared to compete, I thought we were gonna get the best available guys? You also told me we weren't gonna fill all 6 spots, now you wanna use that to your advantage, lol?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you seemed to have a problem with every recruit that was not top-100. I understand that you see them as a need to fill the roster, but I'm pretty confused at how you could say you were legitimately ok with them.
Their offer lists look pretty different to me. Rankings are subjective, and you know I've never put much stock in those.
One averaged 19ppg and 14 rpg vs college players and other prep schools.
Reese averaged a pedestrian 9ppg at Joe Public HS in Orlando.
Like I said, Campbell averaged 24ppg.
I'm fine with the take, my criticism comes that many people griped about Martin raking Washpun or Yemi and wasting scholarships on guys who didn't have offers from schools on the level of Tennessee.
Does McGhee pan out, it's very possible, but simply on the surface he appears to fit the mold of one of those guys Martin took.
I don't think we will. We'll see. I think that's ambitious but I like that mentality.
This kid is no different than Chevious and Yemi. I'm ok with that.
Is there kids better? Uh yeah. But there's only about 20 according to you and it's not like we can't recruit those 20. We've got scholarships to give.
I don't want to see us take 6 freshmen at this point. If we fill all 6 spots, I hope to see 2 frosh, 2 juco, 2 senior transfers. I don't want to see us clog up the roster with kids that can't play.
Sparty criticized missing on guys over his tenure, including the 1st class, so yes he criticized his first class. Many also did, and said he wasted scholarships on the first class on guys that shouldn't have gotten a scholarship, McGhee would appear to fit the same mold as those guys.
As I have stated I think he'll be good and I was fine with the recruiting in Martin's 1st year, I'm simply pointing out many who weren't are ok with this.

Like I've said numerous times. Martin gets a pass on his first class from me as well as from anyone who understands recruiting. I'm not gonna single out Sparty cause I've seen him post favorably about lower rated recruits that he thinks can play. I don't know what his stance is in particular and I don't really care about individual posters.
I bet McGhee is every bit as good as Derek Reese. Reese was taken way too early and it was evident he didn't deserve a scholarship. He's like 6'6" and we were told he could shoot, yet he averaged like 11 points a game. I'm sorry but if you're that tall and can shoot and average 11 points in high school, you either play for a team like Oak Hill or you suck.
Nope.
I didn't criticize CCM on the first class and I'm not going to criticize Tyndall.
I'm saying your logic makes no sense. Pretty clear what your angle is in all this.
