'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

not saying it's gonna happen, and I don't like to bring negative stuff in this thread but...If a new coach comes in at the end of the season (Gruden or whoever) do you think they will keep CJG and will that still give us a leg up on Green?

Yes most think the new coach will keep Jay Graham. Which will keep Green in the fold.

After seeing the way #33 ran for LSU and the way #4 did for Bama, we need this boy. They made huge impacts for their teams against stout defenses. And hats off to Marlin Lane yesterday. He had close to 7 ypc. Good game for him.

Against Troy...

Not a surprise by any means, but it looks to me like DGreen has told one school he is not interested at all. Green may well be narrowing his list. I continue to think UT is in good position to land him.

From Rivals - Hancock College (Ca.) RB Cameron Artis-Payne is officially visiting Auburn today through Tuesday. Auburn considers him one of the top JUCO backs in the nation. He rushed for 300-plus yards earlier this season.

Says he is now considering Miami. Who knows? We got way to much instability to land big time recruits. We need Al Wilson and Tee Martin on staff ASAP!

If u were a recruit what would bring u to UT right now? Somebody needs to do something!

I guess it depends on the recruit. If it were me, I'd just want to play for the team that I've loved since I was a kid. If I was talking objectively with no ties to Tennessee, I honestly probably wouldn't go to Tennessee during these times.

I am still waiting for Book It boy to show up and tell us that Green is all vol just like he did Henry. Guys with the talent of those two would be insane to play for UT without a serious upgrade in head coach.

i am the same way but dumb coach or not for me id give anything and it would be an honor to wear the orange and white :hi:

That's like asking a top notch defensive player to play for Sal right now. What smart player would. If I were a top notch CB I would play for Florida before coming to UT. Sorry to say it but I would have to play in a good aggressive system. Playing straight up defense wouldn't attract me one bit. We look poorly coached and then I know as a DB if this team can't get to the QB then I'm in trouble. Covering 6-7 seconds all game sucks. And if I look at the recruiting class and see NO pass rushers hell I'm not coming this way.

An offensive player would be fine in this offense if the Coordinator would stop outsmarting himself at times.

The way yall are talking you make it sound like DG would be stupid to come to TN. I sure hope he is not on VolNation and sees this

From AU Rivals - AU may wish he was not visiting. Stadium will be half empty and the puppies will kick our ass.

Hermitage (Richmond, Va.) five-star running back Derrick Green has officially visited Michigan and Tennessee this fall.
This weekend, it will be Auburn's turn to impress the nation's top back.

"I'm definitely excited to come back to Auburn," Green said. "I want to see the coaching staff and get on campus. It's my first Auburn game so I'm really pumped up about that. I'm really excited and looking forward to that."

Green is being recruited to Auburn by running backs coach Curtis Luper and has grown close to the entire staff. He's eager to renew the building of their relationships this weekend.

"I keep in contact with all those guys, coach Luper, coach (Gene) Chizik, coach Trooper (Taylor), all those guys. It's going to be great to go see them again," said Green.

The 6-foot, 220-pound back visited Auburn this summer. He's seen the campus, the academics, he knows the coaching staff and is comfortable with the Tigers' program. What Green hasn't experienced at Auburn is a game day atmosphere. He will experience that on Saturday when Auburn hosts No. 5 Georgia inside Jordan-Hare Stadium.

"I'm most excited about seeing the game day atmosphere. I've been to Auburn more than once or twice. I have a good relationship with the coaching staff and the players there, but that game day atmosphere, that's what I'm looking forward to," Green said.

"The fans showed me a lot of love in the Georgia Dome when I watched Auburn play Clemson, so I can't wait to see what happens on Saturday."

Auburn has limped to a 2-7 record this season. The struggles are no secret. But Auburn has yet to lose a commitment in the 2013 class, and Green doesn't appear to be shaken in the slightest by the season's results.

"One player can change a program. That one player could change everything. Honestly, looking at it, Auburn needs a running back and I think I could come in at the right time and win a national championship. They need a running back, it is what it is," Green said.

"And I'm not worried about competition, it doesn't matter. I'm a competitor. I'm a winner and I'm going to go in with the mentality of beating out whoever is there."

There has been much speculation about Green's recruitment. For now, he still claims a top six of Auburn, Michigan, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech and Oregon.

"It's still that six. I've relaxed my recruitment a little during my senior season. Everything is still where it stands," Green said. But internally, Green has narrowed his choices more than he's willing to say publicly.

"In the back of my head, I've got my schools narrowed down," Green said. "I've prayed on it. After my visits, my parents and I will weigh everything."

Could an impressive visit to Auburn, possibly his last overall visit, result in a decision sooner than later?

"Maybe, we'll just have to wait and see," Green said laughing.

Green will be accompanied to Auburn by his parents, who have been with him on all his visits to date. He will arrive in Auburn on Saturday afternoon and leave Monday morning.
