'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

we land him, north, t. johnson, bell, i think that is a great way back to the promise land. i think all 4 will still be vols regardless of who our coach is but thats JMO>

Those are program changers man. Those kids would make those big plays at big times. Something that has been missing. M North my be my personal favorite. Tough to decide though. They are all studs.

I think Dooley and staff have done a great job selling the school to these recruits and not to the coaches but I know that these kids develope relationships with the coaches during their recruitment so there is going to be some defection if there is a coaching change. I think getting Green would give the offense something it hasn't had in a long time a power back.

I hope he knows that if we start showing the smallest sign of being able to beat some teams next year, our attendance will be over bamas.

I think as long as we have Jay Graham on the staff we are in the fight till the end. I think right now we are a slight leader in front of Michigan but its close. I also think when it comes down to it his mom doesn't want her baby moving all the way to Michigan. JMO but I like our chances

Even if winning four straight to close the season does not impress our fans... You dang sure better believe our explosive offense is gonna do wonders for recruiting down the stretch

All right nick...win out including a bowl game...all wins in impressive fashion...do you keep Dooley?

I have given my thoughts on the issue several times, at different times this season. I guess this is where I am currently at in my thinking.

There is something obviously very good about our offense. On the flipside, there is something atrociously bad about our defense. I did the stats a week or so ago, showing if we had a dead, middle of the road SEC defense according to the statistics this year, (I think around 22 ppg), we would have two losses. If we had last year's defense statistics, we would have 2 losses. So there is something to say about that.

Something that concerns me more than the losses, is how many players never seem to rise above their natural talents, suggesting coaching is lacking. You never see 3* players out playing the other guys, and so forth. Also, there are such mystifying things that you see on the field that just make you think something is wrong.

Bottom line, I think winning out, it is time to let Dooley go, although this may be unfair, there are enough red flags that make it seem like we will always be a year or two away from winning the games we need to win to be where Tennessee needs to be. This is a shame, but this is what I think.

Nick those are the exact same conclusions I have reached recently. I have always been a big Dooley supporter, but enough is enough. With the current coaching staff, I just don't have much optimism.

I think we have the PLAYERS to be competitive, but something's just not clicking.

In addition, I thought out of Fl, Uga, Al, USCe.... Two wins was reasonable, one win was acceptable but a bit disappointing, and zero wins was a letdown, barring any horrific injury scenarios which we have indeed avoided. I felt the Miss state game needed to be a win.

Therefore, my win expectations have fallen 2-3 games short

I'm with you on these points, but I do think the word expectation is to strong. There is no way after the past couple years we should have allowed ourselves to EXPECT to win those games. Having said that, I did, and now I'm depressed thinking about this season, wasted IMO.

Such a depressing thread - talking about having unmet expectations.

FWIW it's a Derrick Green recruiting thead. There are nother threads to talk about the games, season, whatever.

I guess Green isn't coming if Dools is coach is he?

I still have to believe Tennessee is an attractive option for a top RB. Great OL. Play in the SEC. Could be a starter from day 1. Hope we land this guy.

Tennessee's O-line play and RB coach Jay Graham made it very attractive to come play RB. A guy like T.Poole at RB didn't make anyone want to come to UT and play RB. He was stumbling all over the place running up the O-linemen's legs. That pisses the linemen off for a back to fall all over their legs.

not saying it's gonna happen, and I don't like to bring negative stuff in this thread but...If a new coach comes in at the end of the season (Gruden or whoever) do you think they will keep CJG and will that still give us a leg up on Green?
