'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

Lane won't scare anyone and Neal would go undrafted right now. They'll all compete for carries if possible.

Good 123 punch , with all three , hope he commits , be back to smash mouth power football , if our O line stays intact , is anyone on it going to declare early.

There's a possibility that J.James could leave early but I believe he is the only one who is seriously considered for leaving early, also don't forget the Dallas Thomas graduates this year as well.

Posted below is AU Rivals update on Green visit. I personally do not agree with this assessment and continue to think that Green is choosing between UT and Michigan with UT getting the nod.

Hermitage (Va.) five-star running back Derrick Green made his first two visits to Auburn during the summer, with back-to-back visits in July and August. He hasn't been back since, but that changes this weekend.
Auburn will host one official visitor when No. 5 Georgia comes to town, and that will be Green. That means all eyes and attention will be on Green, including the coaching staff and the multiple Auburn commits that will be in attendance. Green told me on Tuesday night that he has very good relationships with a number of AU commits, including Reuben Foster who he has spoken with on the phone on numerous occasions this fall.

While Green still claims a top six of Michigan, Tennessee, Oregon, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss and Auburn, it appears more like a two team race between Michigan and Auburn. Green's last official visit was to Michigan and following the visit Green went silent, until he spoke to AuburnSports.com on Tuesday night.

According to sources close to the situation, Green returned home from his Michigan visit and immediately told his mother that the visit was nice, "but it wasn't Auburn." The same sources believe Green's visit to Auburn this weekend will accomplish two things: allow Green to experience a game day atmosphere on the Plains, and to set a firm decision date within the next two weeks. If Green follows through with a quick decision date following this weekend's visit, it will favor Auburn.

When I caught up with Green earlier this week, he was excited about his trip to Auburn this weekend to watch the Tigers take on the Bulldogs in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
"I'm most excited about seeing the game day atmosphere. I've been to Auburn more than once or twice. I have a good relationship with the coaching staff and the players there, but that game day atmosphere, that's what I'm looking forward to," Green said.

Green's lead recruiter is running back coach Curtis Luper, who has built a strong relationship with the elite player.

"He was up here to watch me practice a few weeks ago," Green told AuburnSports.com. "We talk all the time and I understand he has to stay home to watch his son Cam (Cameron Echols-Luper) on Friday nights. Coach Luper already told me he'd be back to watch me in the playoffs. But I can't wait to see him this weekend. I'm excited to see the game day atmosphere, that's what I'm looking forward to."

He said the same things when he came to Knoxville. He will weigh the coaching staff changes at both along with the schools, facilities, area and teammates of all of them before making his choice. Which is how it should be.

luper cant go see him he is off the recruiting trail..... and he wont even be there next year so doesn't matter. luper a dooper are NCAA violations waiting to happen. There are some high school coaches here in alabama that have told auburn not to come back because of those 2.

FWIW, Michigan fans and Auburn fans think Green is going to Auburn too so I'm guessing Michigan mods think the same thing. I guess we will see. I trust Hubbs, but it seems like only UT fans think Green is leaning towards the vols. This reminds of Korren Kirven all over again.

The nation's No. 1 running back finally returned to Auburn after visiting twice during the summer. Hermitage (Va.) five-star Derrick Green made his much anticipated official visit to the Plains.
"It's always good to get back to Auburn and visit with the coaching staff," Green said. "This was my first game day at Auburn and it was amazing. They didn't come out with the 'W', but the crowd still showed up despite the record. They showed me love.

"I watched Tiger Walk, the eagle fly, all that. To have the crowd show up and show the team a lot of love even though they aren't having the best season, I was surprised and impressed. It was nice to see that."

The 6-foot, 220-pound Green was accompanied on his visit with his mother and stepfather. They are on every visit with him and he's happy they are a part of the process.

"It's important. I love my parents, they are always with me. They calm me down if I'm in a pressure situation or feeling pressured, it's a blessing," Green said.

The Tigers' current season has been one to forget after a 38-0 home loss to Georgia. But after the weekend spent with Auburn assistants and a one-on-one sit down with head coach Gene Chizik on Sunday, Green seems comfortable with the future.

"They aren't going anywhere, they told me they plan to be here," Green said. "That's what they told me, they plan to be here and they aren't going anywhere. Hopefully they will get some big wins this year, and starting next year they will get back to winning big."

Running backs coach Curtis Luper and receivers coach Trooper Taylor have taken the lead in recruiting Green.

"I have a great vibe with all of them, great relationships," he said. "They have been recruiting me for so long and we've got a good relationship with each other. I feel comfortable speaking with coach Luper, always coming back to sit down and speak face to face is always good."

While Green was the only official visitor on campus, he wasn't the only big-time prospect inside Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday night. Many of Auburn's commits, including five-star Reuben Foster and others, were there to help convince Green to join their class that currently ranks No. 9 nationally.

"It was a lot of fun to see those guys and be around those guys," Green said. "They always pressure me to commit, but it was a plus to be around them. It's a plus to have a highly ranked recruiting class for them coming in, to have those relationships with them if I did come in would be good."

Now that he's seen everything the Auburn program has to offer, Green will now weigh the pros and cons moving forward.

"I'm comfortable with the whole picture. I'll have to weigh the pros and cons and with the parents and see what happens," he said.

Green has already visited Tennessee and Michigan earlier this fall and has consistently maintained a top six of Auburn, Tennessee, Michigan, Oregon, Ole Miss and Virginia Tech. But that changed this week, when Green replaced Virginia Tech with Miami (FL).

Following his visit to Auburn, Green is still reluctant to name any leaders.

"I'm still taking down the recruiting process, still the same six, but I'm focused on my season," said Green. "We start the playoffs on Friday and that's my focus now. I'm kind of easing off a little bit."

Green said he plans to visit Oregon and Ole Miss after the season and will play in the U.S. Army All-American game in January. A timetable for a decision hasn't been made yet, but Green isn't ruling anything out.

"I'm not saying I'll make a decision then, but maybe," he said.

Two wins, and they've convinced him their jobs are secure???

Those cats can recruit... But they're still toast

Bottom line is, for this coaching staff, you do your job until someone asks you not to. They are going to recruit and try to lure players to Auburn as long as they are employed there.

Take a look at Foster's interview with ESPN. I believe we will lose a bunch of recruits/commits with coaching changes. However, I'd sacrifice a good/great recruiting class for competent coaches.

Green is no longer considering Va Tech. He's now looking at Miami. Top 5 is still the same, outside of those two schools.

i see it coming down to michigan and Tennessee and if momma lets him I could see him in blue. They have a good coach that finds ways to win close games that they need to win. And we can NOT!!!!! Do that.

And speaking of Green, he is in an interesting situation when it comes to his top choices. He has taken official visits to two schools with lame duck coaches (Tennessee and Auburn) and he used the dreaded "nice" word when talking about his visit to Michigan.

That leaves visits left to Miami, the newest school on his list, and either Ole Miss or Oregon. Derrick and his family have been very smart about this process by being methodical and patient, and it will pay off in the end. A lot depends on which coaches are retained, if any, at Tennessee and Auburn and who the next head coach is, as well as how the remaining visits go.

I can't see him going as far away from home as Oregon and I think Miami might be a little too new to his favorites list to be a huge factor here, but anything can happen. Confidence isn't high at Ole Miss, either, so this will likely come down to the staff changes in Knoxville and Auburn and whether he wants to head north to play football at Michigan.

I have said in the past that Michigan seems like the best fit for his running style, but I get the feeling he wants to play football down South.
