The nation's No. 1 running back finally returned to Auburn after visiting twice during the summer. Hermitage (Va.) five-star Derrick Green made his much anticipated official visit to the Plains.
"It's always good to get back to Auburn and visit with the coaching staff," Green said. "This was my first game day at Auburn and it was amazing. They didn't come out with the 'W', but the crowd still showed up despite the record. They showed me love.
"I watched Tiger Walk, the eagle fly, all that. To have the crowd show up and show the team a lot of love even though they aren't having the best season, I was surprised and impressed. It was nice to see that."
The 6-foot, 220-pound Green was accompanied on his visit with his mother and stepfather. They are on every visit with him and he's happy they are a part of the process.
"It's important. I love my parents, they are always with me. They calm me down if I'm in a pressure situation or feeling pressured, it's a blessing," Green said.
The Tigers' current season has been one to forget after a 38-0 home loss to Georgia. But after the weekend spent with Auburn assistants and a one-on-one sit down with head coach Gene Chizik on Sunday, Green seems comfortable with the future.
"They aren't going anywhere, they told me they plan to be here," Green said. "That's what they told me, they plan to be here and they aren't going anywhere. Hopefully they will get some big wins this year, and starting next year they will get back to winning big."
Running backs coach Curtis Luper and receivers coach Trooper Taylor have taken the lead in recruiting Green.
"I have a great vibe with all of them, great relationships," he said. "They have been recruiting me for so long and we've got a good relationship with each other. I feel comfortable speaking with coach Luper, always coming back to sit down and speak face to face is always good."
While Green was the only official visitor on campus, he wasn't the only big-time prospect inside Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday night. Many of Auburn's commits, including five-star Reuben Foster and others, were there to help convince Green to join their class that currently ranks No. 9 nationally.
"It was a lot of fun to see those guys and be around those guys," Green said. "They always pressure me to commit, but it was a plus to be around them. It's a plus to have a highly ranked recruiting class for them coming in, to have those relationships with them if I did come in would be good."
Now that he's seen everything the Auburn program has to offer, Green will now weigh the pros and cons moving forward.
"I'm comfortable with the whole picture. I'll have to weigh the pros and cons and with the parents and see what happens," he said.
Green has already visited Tennessee and Michigan earlier this fall and has consistently maintained a top six of Auburn, Tennessee, Michigan, Oregon, Ole Miss and Virginia Tech. But that changed this week, when Green replaced Virginia Tech with Miami (FL).
Following his visit to Auburn, Green is still reluctant to name any leaders.
"I'm still taking down the recruiting process, still the same six, but I'm focused on my season," said Green. "We start the playoffs on Friday and that's my focus now. I'm kind of easing off a little bit."
Green said he plans to visit Oregon and Ole Miss after the season and will play in the U.S. Army All-American game in January. A timetable for a decision hasn't been made yet, but Green isn't ruling anything out.
"I'm not saying I'll make a decision then, but maybe," he said.

And speaking of Green, he is in an interesting situation when it comes to his top choices. He has taken official visits to two schools with lame duck coaches (Tennessee and Auburn) and he used the dreaded "nice" word when talking about his visit to Michigan.
That leaves visits left to Miami, the newest school on his list, and either Ole Miss or Oregon. Derrick and his family have been very smart about this process by being methodical and patient, and it will pay off in the end. A lot depends on which coaches are retained, if any, at Tennessee and Auburn and who the next head coach is, as well as how the remaining visits go.
I can't see him going as far away from home as Oregon and I think Miami might be a little too new to his favorites list to be a huge factor here, but anything can happen. Confidence isn't high at Ole Miss, either, so this will likely come down to the staff changes in Knoxville and Auburn and whether he wants to head north to play football at Michigan.
I have said in the past that Michigan seems like the best fit for his running style, but I get the feeling he wants to play football down South.
