'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

In other AU-related news, Houston Nutt damaged both index fingers on Monday while dialing people to inquire about potential AU HC job opening...Please keep Houston in your prayers.....

Someone asked about Trooper being taken off recruiting trail/duties. In answer to a similar question, Auburn247 reporter said, "We've checked on that and gotten no firm answer so you can draw your own conclusions for now. As soon as we have anything substantial on the issue, we'll report on it."

Cholly Skrong is the name I keep hearing to replace Chizick. FWIW.

Shame, that's who I would want for Tennessee if something were to happen to CDD.

Strong is a better X and O coach than what we have. With the way Auburn recruits he should do well there. I like him for UT as well

I'm going to get railed for this, but if anyone watched the Petrino interview it has hit him hard. He fully understands what the impact of his decisions did to the entire state of Arkansas. I think he has changed in the sense that he will be more selfless rather than selfish. The current state of the Tennessee program is similar to when he went to Arkansas and turned it around too.

No matter what happens, if there is a new Tennessee coach he should be required to keep Jay Graham because he is a badass and Coach Sal so the 3-4 can be fully implemented.

With all due respect, this is complete BS. Bobby Petrino is not sorry for ANYTHING he has done...be it sign an extension at Louisville only to have secret job interviews at higher profile jobs days later, quit on an entire team and fan base MID SEASON with the Falcons, or pull the stunt he pulled at Arkansas.

The only thing Bobby Petrino is sorry for is that he got caught.

Fact is, he is the epitome of selfish. Sad thing is, as a football coach, he is in a position to mentor and prepare young men for adulthood. Good luck to any parent who allows their son to play for that scum bag.

Ah. I feel much better now.

If UT hired Petrino, and he won big, nobody would care about his past transgressions. It's just how things work in the SEC.

Personally I do not want Petrino.
That said, it will be a huge PR nightmare to overcome, then there are the in-home visits to consider with the recruits mom sitting in---uncomfortable---yeah, not too many mother's going to be keen on the idea of this man mentoring their baby.
I do not see an AD or University having scruples and concerned with character and integrity making Petrino an offer. Just too much to overcome.

Nothing official, but sources say Chizik has already been fired. He just hasn't been told yet and it's not public. But the decision has been made by the AU power structure (not AD) that will be making the decisions about the future of program.

This is why I doubt Strong would consider AU. He will only coach at a program where he has the final. Tuberville had issues with the AU power structure and it worked out well for him leaving for a program where he had the final say. Strong will do the same and be told how to run the program. JMO

Fosters from Auburn so as long as they get a new coach or do something that gives them some hope, i see him staying at AU.

Foster is looking around. I would not be surprised to see him end up at Washington. Lupoi and Foster have a great relationship and he may be one fo the top recruiters in the country. Again even when committed to UA he stated last spring that Washington would definitely get a visit and now is setting up that OV.

The one thing though for AU in their favor is Foster has a daughter that lives 40mins or less from AU campus.

Below is from rivals.com article today. Article also includes UT but not my place to post.

Situation: It is looking as though the exit of Gene Chizik may be more unceremonious than his entrance when he was met at the airport by a chant of "We want a leader, not a loser." In his two years at Iowa State, he was 5-19 and to date his record at Auburn without Cam Newton stands at 17-15 -- with Newton he was 14-0 and won a national championship. The odds increase each week that Chizik will not return next season.

Recruiting Impact: Unlike many coaches in the SEC, Chizik is not known as being very hands-on as a recruiter, and his dismissal by itself would likely have little to no impact on the current class. However, if the administration or the new hire were not to retain Trooper Taylor, Tommy Thigpen and Mike Pelton, the wheels could come off. Those three assistants are the lead recruiters on five-star players Reuben Foster, Carl Lawson and Dee Liner, as well as many of the four-star players currently pledged. Chizik, for recruiting purposes, is very replaceable.

Quotable: "I think Gene Chizik is extremely important to the class, as are Trooper Taylor, Tommy Thigpen, and a number of other key assistant coaches," AuburnSports.com recruiting analyst Justin Hokenson said. "Any coaching change is going to impact recruiting, but it's tough to say to what degree until it were to happen. One thing I'll say, is that Auburn's current class is extremely loyal right now to Auburn and the current staff. They seem determined to stick with the Tigers despite a struggling season."

From the article

Situation: In the ultra-competitive SEC the numbers against Dooley are not good. He is winless against ranked teams in the conference and has opened this season with three straight setbacks and there are games against Alabama and South Carolina on the horizon. To his credit, Dooley has addressed the situation saying that he understands the passionate fan base and its displeasure but what needs to be noted is that those 102,000 people are being heard by the administration as well.

Recruiting Impact: The current class ranks No. 20 in the nation and is headlined safety Kameron Miles and athlete Jalen Reeves-Maybin and a change at the top could put those two players back on the board for many other programs. Miles is a defensive back out of Mesquite (Texas) West Mesquite and not a natural fit to come halfway across the country to Tennessee, and Reeves-Maybin is one of the fastest rising prospects from Clarksville (Tenn.) Northeast whose options would increase and pressure to decommitt intensify if Dooley loses his job.

Quotable: "One way or the other the decision at Tennessee will need to be made quickly," Rivals.com national analyst Mike Farrell said. "The fact of the matter is that until a determination is made every school will be using the uncertainty to recruit against Tennessee."

These are a few lines and quotes from article on Foster today.

Foster and the tight-knit group of Auburn commits make up the No. 9 ranked class nationally, but Foster's sights are set higher. Focusing on top uncommitted prospects, Foster still believes the nation's No. 1 ranked class is within reach.

"Jeremy Johnson, Carl Lawson, Dee Liner, Trey Johnson, Jordan Wilkins, Tashawn Bower, Cameron Toney and all the other Auburn commits, we're going to stick together and make this class great. We'll fight for Auburn's class that's coming to Auburn University. My boys are solid," Foster said.

"We also need guys like Montravius (Adams), Derrick (Green), Tray (Matthews), Isaiah (Jones), we need them on board. We want to get into a program that builds beyond football, builds for life."

Who knows how everything will end but to things I disagree with in that article.

One that class will not stay intact even with a great hire because some of those recruits have built relationships with those coaches and would follow them elsewhere or just go elsewhere. Assuming the staff is gone.

Second anytime Foster using the words 100% or solid I will doubt anything he says. Just saying.

The problem with Foster is his recruitment may have limited his options, especially with the huge AU tattoo of where could go. It is not like he can just cover it up and it is not that small. With that being said most of those other names he has mentioned have still been heavily recruited even while committed and have left the door open. They have options so I can understand why Foster is trying to rally everyone now. He does not want to be left behind, assuming the others look elsewhere.

Please note, my crimson-colored friend, that I did not offer an opinion on Foster's statements. I think it is only a snapshot of where he said that he stands at this moment.

I did not take as a fact or your opinion. I was just saying his statement of what is happening may not speak for the others involved. I do believe that Fosters wants that scenario and who knows maybe the others do as well.:hi:
