'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

I admit I am still Missouri about Petrino, but many think CBP is someone a large program is going to hire. This isn't really up for debate IMO. You can see the climate changing as hot seats get hotter and fan bases start to feel the need to win. A big program is going to hire Bobby Petrino to be their head football coach. More than likely, he's going to do a very good job when he gets there. He is an elite coach and gets the absolute most out of what talent he has. You can debate his morals and ability to recruit, but not to coach.

B.S. - You CANNOT debate his morals. He is scum.

So the question is, as an AU fan are you okay with him ending up at another SEC or major school somewhere similar while Auburn goes out and tries to find someone else.

Sure. Then we get to debate the morals of the AUBURN fans that justify hiring trash.

Based on our history of hires, we very well could hire the next Terrry Bowden or Gene Chizik.

As much as they may not like Petrino's history away from the field

Petrino's immoral behavior was interwoven throughout his job description. Give your "piece" a University position, give her a chunk of your family's money. Call her and text her to schedule all your hook-ups with school funds? Heck, he's a regular Ward Cleaver.

many have a hard time saying we should pass on him and go elsewhere with the search.

Whoever hires him will take a PR hit in the short term. But if he wins, and he probably will, all will be forgotten.

Maybe in ESPN's universe but for those of us that could'nt rationalize the justification for hiring a complete vacuum of morals, will keep it for what it is. Selling ourselves out and taking kids along for the ride.

Face it. He's complete, discusting, filth and and whoever would hire him gets to wear the same T-shirt.

So are you saying that you would oppose petrino being hired ? :)

Just so we are clear. BTW, I think that hiring a POS like that speaks of your institution as well.

Please note that I personally am still skeptical. I was offering many AU, and perhaps a host of major schools', arguments for hiring Petrino. I don't know if I can ever get around his moral issues. But, I think a bunch of major schools are not looking to hire a bible camp director, they are intent on hiring a winning head coach in a multi-million dollar industry.

I'm going to get railed for this, but if anyone watched the Petrino interview it has hit him hard. He fully understands what the impact of his decisions did to the entire state of Arkansas. I think he has changed in the sense that he will be more selfless rather than selfish. The current state of the Tennessee program is similar to when he went to Arkansas and turned it around too.

No matter what happens, if there is a new Tennessee coach he should be required to keep Jay Graham because he is a badass and Coach Sal so the 3-4 can be fully implemented.

With the current state of the AU program on the field and all the rumors off the field, even if those are all unfounded, they are still there, I doubt AU will have the pick of the liter for a HC. Money may help land a big time coach but sometimes jumping into a fire still burning is less appealing no matter how much money is involved.

I do think CGC is gone come Dec 1 when the buyout drops 25% for his remaining contract, but in my opinion will be limited who they get to replace him. Petrino might be their best option and a steal at that. I agree I would not want him for his off the field issues but he may be the best available HC they can get and with his recent issues at a bargin price.

I have seen names like Strong mentioned, I doubt he would even entertain it. He is the type that wants control of the program and not sure certian powers to be would allow him to have it. The same powers that fought with Tuberville and ran him out. I wonder how AU fans feel about him now. The coach of a top 20 team who completely shutdown one of the most explosive offenses in CFB last night when they dismantled WVU. Think what he could have done with the talent AU has.

Arkansas seems to be very interested in Strong but he may want to stay in the Big East. Why not they are headed to the BCS this year it appears. Another name to watch on the move is Cutcliff. His name is starting to make rounds. He has done very well at Duke where they do not make academic exceptions for recruits and only one win away from making Duke bowl eligible.

When you recruit players you hope they come because of the school and the tradition. Yes the staff does play a role, but look a J James for UT who was recruited by Kiffin and still stayed because he said he wanted to be at UT and did not care about who coached it. We will see if the current commits for AU committed because they really believed in AU and were all in, or if they only have loyality to the staff that recruited them and may follow them elsewhere or commit to another school.

I saw the interview and think the man realizes what he did and is owning up to it. He will get another chance somewhere. The man cheated on his wife, something men do all over this country. The man thought he was in love with the blonde and tried to better her life with the job/money. He screwed up. He is trying to fix his marriage and his life. IMO, he would be worth the risk IF Hart made sure to protect UT with guidelines in the contract.

I could care less about the walking out on a job. An employer can fire a person any day for anything at anytime, coaches especially. He wanted to walk, so he did. You replace them and move on.

Ouch. Welp... who on the staff would you wish to keep if you had a choice?

Van Gorder - defense incrementally improving but killed by linebacker play and very young guys in secondary; Boulware - special teams has been one bright spot this year

We are 8 point dogs to Vandy. Guess the next time Toomers gets rolled is when Chizik is fired.

Hey man keep ur head up remember at the end of the day it's vandy! If y'all stop the run game and can produce a little but of offense y'all have a chance !!!! It's the SEC anything could happen GOVOLS beat bama

Thanks. (1) AU producing a little offense is highly questionable. (2) GOVOLS, kick some bammer ass! If within my power, I would grant you Green and/or Lawson for a university of alabama at tuscaloosa loss!.:clapping:

R Foster visited LSU this past weekend for an UOV. Now has OVs setup for LSU, Washington, and Miami.

Not sure how it will go down but Lawson, Liner, and Foster all seemed very tight. With Foster watch out for Washington because he said in the spring while still committed to UA that he wanted to visit Washington. But if the rumors are true and all three are looking around UT very well may come in and get Lawson.

As a Falcon fan, so glad VG is gone. You do not want to keep him.

I know he'll coach again somewhere.

I know he'll coach again somewhere. At a small school he alone would take their budget to another level. It's just a shame that it has to be about that.

If UT hired Petrino, and he won big, nobody would care about his past transgressions. It's just how things work in the SEC.

I'd care. But that's JMO. I don't want my program associated with garbage, win or lose. There are more important things in life.
