The new SEC 25 rule is window dressing and nothing more. It looks good on paper except no one can find exactly what it says. The midyear exemption seems to be to college football what the patriot act is to the US government. Meaning any player over the 25 you can slide into it. I have seen that if a player leaves early for the NFL, graduates in Dec, or transfers out before classes start in Jan they can be replaced on the current roster of 85. It looked good when it came out but it seems instead of several small loopholes to work around there is one large one. hence why I have seen reports that UF may sign up to 35 this year.

My dad is a Virginia Tech fan and follows their recruiting. He said Tech has 3 slots left and are in are a handful of guys. The first three out of this group that pledge get their spots.

Ken Ekanem, Joel Caleb, Korren Kirven, Cyrus Jones, Stefon Diggs

He said they will absolutely hold a spot for Ekanem and Caleb, and they may not take Diggs (admittedly a longshot for them) because of perceived attitude problems. He also said he is not confident on Cyrus Jones.

They absolutely want Kirven though, and may do some greyshirt finagling to accept more than 3.

Just a little more information, as I find it hard to believe that they would pass on Kirven if three of those others committed before.

Ok I misunderstood. Sorry about that. I thought it passed for all D1 schools. I watched a show and it said this was one of the rule changes they were wanting to change in the NCAA. Guess its only in the SEC for now.

I completely agree. If Kirven wants to go they will take them. I just thought all schools were on 25 limit since there were discussions of changing the rule NCAA wide. My bad folks.

C Jones by all accounts will commit to UA pubically at the allstar game. He was suppose to announce last week to UA when Saban did his inhome visit and Bone and other sites were predicting based on their info. But the day before the visit the UA game called and told him a spot was now available for him to manke an announcement during the game. Something he wanted to do in the beginning but the UA game was already full. They only allow some many commitments during the game. After the visit he said he already told the coaches of the school he was going to commit to but would not make it public until the game.

Also Kirven is suppose to visit UA on Jan 20th but I am not sure if that visit will happen. If you look at his size he probably is better suited for DE in the SEC right now. Which might be the edge for UT. I have read that he would prefer a chance at DE and he is got the speed to get in the backfield. VT wants him at DT.

This could be a signing day suprise but I'm not holding my breath. 2 biggest needs for TN right now imo are DT and RB and at least he's visiting...

I imagine you do not consider Kirven a take right now with the other guys you are in on? I certainly know that the Virginia Tech guys are more concerned about Alabama than they are Tennessee. I would like to read into his multiple visits here as a positive thing for us though.

I think if we get Jenkins on the 9th and Goldman possibly at the all start game, or C Ward before Kirven visits no. The staff really likes Kirven but he postponing his vist until after the season may have hurt his chances for a spot. There is a very good chance by the time he is suppose to visit we will only be taking 2013 commits at that time.

Don't take me wrong Kirven is a solid player and would be a huge pickup for UA, but there are others just as good who have already or may have before he decides, to commit to UA.

Well that would certainly be ideal for UT fans. Though in the end, I think he is a Hokie regardless of if Bama has a spot or not. Shame, would love to see him in Orange. Hope Sirmon puts a full court press on him.

3 people that want want to go to Bama but Saban turns them downend up going to UT and hating Bama for turning them away. Bear Bryant used to take 90 players(may be an exaggeration) a year so they wouldn't go anywhere else.

Why are you worried about his ankle fx?

If Bama is out, maybe VT backs off due to ankle fx, then UT is his remaining top 3 :)

May be best ankle fx ever!!! Sorry Kirven, trying to look on the bright side.
